My first build is it over the top or just good spec

Hello being playing about with the spec, first time build any ideas on changes I could make? This is purely for gaming and am wanting something I don't have to upgrade anytime soon. Should I stick with this CPU or go for the OC Intel® Core™ i7-3930K which would obviously mean a few changes to other items?

Right, looks like you are going to o/c right? If so, I'd suggest getting a pre-o/ced system from pcs, that way you are safe and everything. For your spec, everything looks fine, one recommendation would be the wifi card, do you really need it, ethernet is much better. If ethernet isn't possible, have you considered homeplugs?

In my opinion its a little over the top, what's it for? Just gaming?

No need for the overclock at all for gaming, the I5 2500, I7 2600 and I7 2700 are all fast enough anyway.

I'd go for something like this, cost £1788, with options to upgrade later when needed.

yes, +1 for tom's spec, you just need to add your extras. My only tip would be to possibly get the k version of that cpu so that you can o/c later, seeing as you are fairly keen to do so. This would mean that the cpu will decrease the life of the cpu if constantly used, however, if used when the cpu starts getting slow, it would extend the life slightly as you will get a boost in performance.

Thanks your replys have got me thinking , although I have a good budget I do not want to throw cash away please keep the ideas coming. Re the overclock I just went for that as i felt it would improve the games BF 3 , Crysis , Skyrim etc I am not a overclocker just wanted a powerfull future proof (for 3 to 4 years anyway) system that was a bit on the special side. Below is my second build I was thinking about

OC's do not improve performance in games at all, the gpu does most of the work.
