my first gaming pc - advice

Hi all, I recently decided to get into pc gaming, I'm not new to gaming but I am new to the technical side of computers. I thought I would ask for some advice before buying so can get the most out of my build. This pc will only be used for gaming only and occasionally browsing the internet so I went for components that are mainly for gaming. I will mostly be playing shooters and other titles like hitman and red dead redemption 2.

My budget for the pc is £2400 but the build sits at £2234 leaving me £166. If you know where I could put that money to good use in the build it would be appreciated. I also have £1000 for peripherals like the monitor, keyboards and mice etc but I'm looking to pair the monitor with the GPU so I don't bottleneck it.
I would like to try and game at 1440p and at 144hz so I thought I would go for the 3070 as I hear the 3080 is a bit overkill for that but I might be wrong so any improvements and suggestions to the build would be great.

I would also like suggestions to the storage on the build because I'm not quite sure what I need in that department. I will be installing the OS on the m.2 ssd as it help with the load time of windows. The storage will be used for storing games but would like enough to store about 100 to 200 games

thanks for reading and any improvements or suggestions would be appreciated. I will post the specs here and a link

(just a point I've got two monitors I would like suggestions on but would you like me to post this in the monitor thread.)

You can get much more for your budget mate, for an idea see below. I wouldn't worry about storage right now because it can easily be added to later. Instead I upped the PSU, CPU, Motherboard, CPU Cooler and went with 2 M.2 SSD's for that maximum storage speed.

I'd also recommend the Corsair 5000D Airflow case but it seems to be off the configurator at the minute. It's just a bit bigger and has some really nice features that help with cable management making the whole build look cleaner

Any questions fire away

Im looking looking at two monitors for the build one is the ASUS TUF VG27AQ and one is the Samsung odyssey g7 what one would you say would be better for this build or if any others would be better.

With the RAM is there any difference between the 3200mhz and the 3600mhz

Tough question on the monitors @SpyderTracks is the guy who helped me select mine

Both have their strengths though if I remember right from seeing other discussions the ASUS monitor has a batter panel but the G7 has a higher refresh rate? I'll honestly wait for someone more knowledgeable on monitors to confirm that though. I personally have a G5 paired with a 3060Ti and love it but if I had a 3070 I'd be looking for a superwide

On the RAM PCS use Corsair Vengence the 3200Mhz has a clock speed of CL16 and the 3600Mhz has a clock speed of CL18. Now what this means is that when it comes to gaming there's next to no difference between them. So for gaming builds you're better with the 3200Mhz, the 3600Mhz gets recommended for production builds like editing machines, modelling, music productions, etc

The ASUS VG27AQ is a very nice monitor indeed. The G7 is curved, if that's what you prefer, but the ASUS is higher quality. The ideal would be the AOC CU34G2X, which is ultra-widescreen at £460...

I would say the Asus is probably a better quality panel, the G7 you're paying for 240Hz which most people can't appreciate anyway.

I would go with the Asus personally.

As above though, if Ultrawide is an option, it's a far better experience.

They’re ultrawide so higher resolution. An ultrawide is 3840 x 1440 so it’s 1.5 x 1440p across the horizontal. So you see more of the space at the edges, for shooters you see enemy’s coming into shot earlier and for cinematic games, you get more of the landscape.

Ill look into ultrawides more . Do they do all the NVidia g sync models or does it just need to be g sync compatible
