Any reason in particular for going for two 670s in SLI as opposed to a stronger single GPU?

I would. Just trying to save the man some money if he didn't really need,SLI.

Fair enough. I think sli 670s are the best value for money high performance gpu setup currently available. That's what the voices in my head tell me at least.

Thanks for the replies so far the 2 770's kinda takes me over the budget i'm looking for but i may look into it. and with the two sli 670's i made a post a while ago and got recommended to go sli then one GPU

For 3d gaming I would suggest a sli set up. You could downgrade the motherboard to the non-pro version and ditch the SSD to lower the cost.

ok i have downgraded the motherboard to the ASUS® Z87-A: ATX, USB2.0, USB3.0, SATA6GB/S, SLi, XFIRE and added the two 770's and its only £75over my budget i'm sure i can find that somewhere :D
