My Ideal System

This will be used for work and some play, to last maybe 4-5 years.

Programs used - Autocad (2d) sketchup, photoshop, illustrator, indesign, ms office, some gaming...need to have lots of programs open at once...

For processor, not sure between i4790k (OC 4.5?) or i4930k (OC 4.5?) or a Xeon...? is it worth OC?

GPU - Reading Toms hardware, not sure that quadro cards are any better for Autocad, but better for 3d rendering, not sure with sketchup/photshop if there is an advantage one over getting a good gaming card? GTX 770 4mb?

anyone have experience of quadro k2000 or k4000 for gaming or standard use? can you mix a cheaper quadro with a gaming card? will it be worth it?

Ram - 16-24mb 1600mhz

Want it too be as quiet as possible...which Case, cooling?

Was thinking about 2 x SSD - one for os, one for files?

Also maybe 2 x 2tb HD - mirrored...will that slow things down? is it easier to backup up manually?

Would like a new monitor...24" something that can get really tight resolution?

Thanks... So the 4790k will turbo up to 4.5ghz anyway...didnt know that...

I wondered if the 4930k with 6 cores would be better/more flexible..but it cost more...

with the 780ti - what is the Ti?

AOC are a fairly big company, their screens are pretty good. The Ti just means it's better, you can check benchmarks online to see if a cheaper card would suffice. You can OC past 4.5ghz remember, I believe somebody got to 7ghz using 1 core and liquid nitrogen for cooling. As for the SSDs, the configurator clearly tells you the read and write speed (xxxMB/sR; xxxMB/sW respectively). Obviously the six core i7 is the better chip, but socket 2011 is extremely expensive and the standard i7 will be fine.
