I upgrading from a sony vaio, as ive recently started playing SWTOR and was a bit of a WOW addict, but my graphics card didn't support SWTOR, so I found PCS and was very happy you could select what you wanted. Im not 100% sure my spec is the best I could have got for my money but whatever the case it will certainly crush my old laptop to death in the gaming department and everyover department :)

Hi Andy, can you explain why it would provide a better balance to my spec that I selected, im not really looking for super fast loading speed to i opted to go for more hard drive than getting the ssd, also why would you select the 1333Mhz ram.

Cheers,

Doods

I would downgrade the CPU because the performance difference between the 2760 and the 2860 is minimal and the price difference is huge! If you are buying this machine for gaming then you really wont notice any difference between the two.

I would get 1333MHz RAM because it will perform just as well as the 1600MHz RAM, unless you are overclocking.

And I would get an SSD+HDD combination rather than 2xHDD in RAID 0 becasue the SSD+HDD is not only faster, but it is also more reliable.

And top of all this you will save yourself £90 which you can spend on anything else you wanted such as peripherals like a nice gaming mouse or keyboard. Or you could upgrade the Warantee to Gold. Or of course a few pints each night until your machine is built and delivered :)

Hope this helps.

I gotta ask, with a 18.4inch Laptop at that price.. (which isn't exactly portable)

you could have a awesome Desktop for when your on a proper gaming session...

then a remotely good laptop for when your out and about.

Iv been having that exact argument with myself beanruz, and i think i have eventually decided to go for the desktop and later get a cheapy laptop for when im on the move!
May be worth a thought Doods, unless you really need the mobility of a laptop (ie living in different locations)

TBH there is still a lot of pointless money spent in that spec that you could either save or spend on other things such improving the warantee or getting a dead pixel garantee. The 1600MHz RAM will give you 0% performance gain and the i7-2860 will only give you 1-3 fps more in game than an i7-2760 would.

Mustafa @ PCS advised me to take 1600 ram as it would perform better, as for the desktop vrs laptop i have no place to put a desktop as it would just get trashed as i have 2 kids 3yrs old and 1 1/2 yrs, so having laptop makes more sense as i can remove it from the livingroom during the day. This is why im spending the money on the laptop :)

TBH its the i7-2860 that is the biggest waste of money.

Can you explain the diffrences between the 2 off them, or are they very the same, as i could change a few things if there isn't much of a diffrence.

the difference between the i7-2860 and the i7-2760 is only 0.1GHz which in terms of gaming performance is absolutely nothing at all (whereas the difference in cost is massive!)

If I were you then I would get the Intel 6300 instead of the GIGABIT LAN & KILLER™ 1102 WIRELESS GAMING 802.11N NETWORK CARD.

Other than that you will have one hell of a kick ass laptop :)
