Are you looking for feeedback?

What monitor are you pairing it with, what resolution and refresh rate or make and model if you're unsure?

What's it for?

I would have suggested asking for advice before going ahead with that build to be honest. It doesn't look very well focused for anything in particular. It'll be competent and powerful enough, no doubt.... just not very well optimised.

For gaming and video and photo editing. More just showing off hahaha. But any feedback would be cool. I have 2, AOC AGON AG271QX 27" Freesync Gaming Monitor QHD 144Hz and 1ms, and, AOC U2879VF 28" 4K Monitor - 3480 x 2160, 1MS, HDMI, DVI, DP 60Hz and 1ms. Games I am gonna play are; Witcher games, Arkham Games, Borderlands, Masterchief Collection and GW2 mainly.

Over time I will change components. What would you recommend potentially changing? I have it being returned due to top panel being smashed in transit, so can probably ask for things to be changed if possible.

You’d be much better off with an AMD build, would smash the 9900k all over the place for your uses.

Which AMD CPU and what would be the reason it would beat the 9900k?
9900k is great for gaming at 1080p 240 Hz, but that's about all, at all higher resolutions, there's barely any difference with the 3900x. But in multithreaded, the difference with the 3900x is astronomical, just an entire different league in performance. So you'd get the same gaming power, but ooodles more power for photo editing, literally almost double the performance for less money:

Plus the 9900k will lose performance over time as more and more security holes are patched (those that can be), but the general estimation is that the only way to make them secure will be to disable hyperthreading which would make it exactly the same as the 9700k, so it's literally throwing money away for poor performance.

What AMD CPU costs the same as the 9900k then?

Is my current Motherboard compatible with AMD?

Share the same sentiments. It would be a rip it up and start again build unfortunately.

For some reason it is saying the case won't fit the same amount of fans as the intel build. Is that due to the H500 being smaller to the H500M?

Have a look at the Corsair 570X, better case all round IMO. If you want the "best" the 500D SE would be a good shout, pricey though.

For your storage you would be better to select the SX6000 as your second M2 drive and drop the SSD you have selected. Its super slow by comparison nowadays. Don't think it would be much difference in cost.

You want the H115i Platinum RGB cooler in there too, rather than the H100X, that's old tech.

I would also select at least the 750w TXm, preferring the RMx personally as it's just far better.

No extra fans or anything like that required.

Generally speaking.... that would knock spots off the 9900k in just about every single area.... and match it for 4k gaming.

So I would be looking to game on the QHD 144Hz monitor and edit photos and videos on the 4K 60Hz monitor. My understanding is the higher the refresh rate the better. I already have the monitors so can't change those.

I can also talk to PC Specialist due to the return if i can edit the build to be an AMD one now. Not sure they will let that happen. But I can always ask.

Thanks for the help. I am newer to PC Gaming. Been trying to learn over the last year before I purchased. Been gaming on my Asus Laptop which is 8 years old now. So I think whatever I get will be an improvement.

If you're looking to game on the 1440p monitor I would lower the GPU to the 2070 Super, you're not going to get any benefit out of the 2080 Ti. You are as well saving the money, honestly. As much as the GPU has an influence with rendering, it's in the effects and the 2070S is no slouch for that.

The 2080 Ti is only aimed at 4k gaming and high end computation.

I would also remove the 120mm black case fan. You don't need it. The stock fans and the H115i has you more than covered.

My reason for the 2080Ti is so that when I can afford a 4K High Refresh Rate Monitor I will have a GPU that can cope with it.
Better to buy a modern GPU at that time as they will be much more powerful for less money. The 2080ti has been out for 2 years and is being replaced in a couple of months, and the 3000 series are set to be substantially more powerful and cheaper.

^YeahThat^

If you get something appropriate for just now, then purchase a GPU down the line when you think about the monitor..... the money saved will allow a much more powerful GPU for the same money.

Ok fair enough. Didn't realise the 3000 series was coming out soon. How come the high end Nvidia GPUs are considered better than the high end AMD GPUs

AMD's go as high as 1440p 144Hz, wheras nVidia have the 2080, 2080 Super and 2080TI which are more powerful than that and suited for 4k.

Plus AMD have had a history of driver issues for a while now leading to problems with stuttering and BSODS>
