Hello, I recently purchased a custom built PC from PC Specialist, it has an RTX 3070, i5-12600K and 32GB RAM. I bought this PC just to play Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 but on medium settings it is running at 12FPS when most RTX 3070 users get 45-60 on ultra settings. Something is wrong because even my gtx 1650 worked better and I am not sure what to do. thanks!

Ok first things first are you sure the display cable from your monitor is plugged into the GPU and not the motherboard?

Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3d settings > Program Settings > "select msfs" > select nvidia GPU under preferred graphics processer.
For some reason, it wasnt showing the option but i did it in the windows settings where you can select power saving which was the intel GPU or High Performance which is RTX 3070 for MSFS

My friend, you have solved my issue. I'm sure you have to deal with idiots like me every day but i cant thank you enough, my FPS is now on 55 so I really appreciate it!
Well that is fantastic news. Glad we could help :)

Have a nice flight.

For future reference you should also have the same option in nvidia control panel:

FYI, you might notice some power throttling with that PSU. It's very low for your hardware combination.

At full chat the 3070 will draw 400W+
At full chat the 12600k will draw 226w

That's you sitting at 626w before adding in the motherboard, HDD or anything plugged in.

Where do you get the information on power from? Everything I see is suggesting the max gpu power consumption for the 3070 is between 220 and 250W.
Am I missing something?

I heard the same thing over the internet, my games have all been running incredibly so I'm not too worried about the power, PCS told me the minimum was around 450-500W but still I chose 650W

I actually misread when I was searching earlier. As you say, the max on the Founders was 240w. AIBs might manage 250 but that would be at a stretch. With 226w from the CPU that would leave a reasonable margin.

Full system draw at full load is likely around 550w so 650 does indeed give a reasonable cover for the system as it stands :)
