My New RTX 3070 Configuration. Motherboard DirectStorage support?

Hi everyone.

This is the configuration I just ordered. This will be paired with an RTX 3070 and the 2.5" SSD will be replaced with a 512gb Samsung 860 EVO. What are your thoughts?

One question though. What are the likelihood of the motherboard supporting the newly announced DirectStorage? Providing I upgrading to compatible M.2 PCIE 4.0 drive.

Many thanks!

If it was me, I'd want a better case (Focus G as a minimum), better PSU (TxM would be my minimum unless I had no option...in my mind, the second most important component after the case) and a better Wi-Fi card (The Intel AX200). COuld up the warranty to SIlver for a Fiver.

To know if this is a good spec for your needs or not, we need the following information:

- Maximum budget? Helps to know if there is any room to upgrade things

- Monitor to be used with this system? Resolution and refresh rate or make and model if unsure. Gaming systems are always specced according to the monitor

- Any other uses to take into account? Editing? Streaming? things like that

Let us know the above and we can advise appropriately
Thanks for the reply!

What is the issue with this case and PSU? Also my budget, including the graphics card was £1000. So I am already a little over budget.

Also, my internet speed isn't great anyway and could upgrade in future. My monitor is a 75Hz 1440p. Just gaming.

I have upgraded the PSU and WIFI card, as suggested. However, I dont like the look of the other cases. Is there a reason I should upgrade it?

It's a very budget case with poor airflow...personally, i wouldn't go anywhere near a case that had a single fan and such limited front intakes (unless it had been designed to maximise airflow), especially as there is still a question mark over the heat produced by the new GPUs. Up to you though as it's your money
Thank you for the reply. I do like the look of the case, so would adding fans be a good alternative? Also, if I were to add extra "standard case fans", how would they go about fitting them? Is the case designed to allow more?

I would go for the Focus G but its not there..

Personally when it comes to required power supply, so that I can give my customers a decent warranty, I go over a bit, I think the 650W is not giving you enough breathing space. Up it to a 750w if you can.

Nvidia recommends a 650W power supply with the 3070, and that is when paired with a 10900k I believe. I have upgraded to a 3700x CPU (which is 65W) and the 3070 is 250W. I would suggest there is plenty of headroom.

Given currently available options, the following spec would be the absolute minimum I would recommend (plus the £600 that the 3070 is showing as in the configurator...pretty sure it should be a bit lower though given it's stated price of around £470)....bear in mind the other 3600 chips will be back in stock before the 3070 arrives. Given your monitor, the 3060 would be the more appropriate GPU for it:

Hi.

Thanks for the recommendation. Unfortunately a 3060 does not exist. Also, I would like a 3070 since it would allow room for a potential monitor upgrade within the next year or so. Also, the drives you have added, while appreciated, are unnecessary since I will be adding my own.

Other than these things, I believe we are on a similar page.

Cheers.
