Need advice with first new PC in 6 years. Large budget

Hello all.

Ok, a few months ago I had to sell my old computer to cover bills since then I've come into some money from the sale of a house and would love a PC that I hope will last me a long time. I have no mouse, keyboard, monitor so ill need the lot on top of that I want this thing to be a beast! budget is £3500 to £4000 that includes the monitor software etc.

Before anyone freaks I understand that's an obscene amount of money if you can show me a power house for less and explain why, that's good for me. I've always used macs so the idea of choice is a bit mind blowing I'm used to all in one no customisation. Ideally I would like it to be able to run high end games eg crysis 3 high AA on a high res with a good or better fps.

The spec below is what I'm looking at currently. Will I have any heating issues eg shall I go water cooling, and what screen would be best for the graphics power no point getting a nice gpu and then a rubbish screen.

All parts if poss pref from the PC spec builder choices so I can just have it all turn up in one go.

Hi Ritchie,
£3500 is a lot , if I were you I'd consider spending a third of the money and upgrade after a couple of years if required. A single GTX 780 will max the games you mentioned assuming you gaming in 1 screen. If you are not planning to overclock your cpu a k version of the cpu or the hydro cooler are not needed. I am not sure what other uses you will have for this machine but if it is just for gaming 32gb RAM is overkill.

Other use will just be rendering 3D protein structures my old computer used to suffer badly and the systems we used in the labs were either 16 or 32 if you say 16 is more than enough I trust your judgement. Not planing to over clock hate messing with inside of a computer why I went mac all done for you. Also why I was going to go 2 gpu save ever opening it up lol.

Only single screen though so if you say one is enough.

Ig I were to hand you 3k and say this is max budget need a full comp but already have a printer what would you build for max setting gaming.

I have not added any peripherals because they are such a personal thing I wouldn't know what your looking for. From a pure performance point, the above spec has a 6 core processor, 7 x 780's and 32Gb RAM. They are the components that make things happen and the spec above has just about the best you can get.

Ok from what I've seen and read here on other threads this is what I'm looking at getting. anything I should be getting better on like hdd? Or will this be a long lasting gamer PC? Also any comments on the monitor choice.

That's not fair... I want a PC with seven GPUs now :(

Yeah ok wise guy! Just imagine it though.... "I run crysis 3 maxed out at 500 FPS"

For the avoidance of any doubt (read any stupid people) I would only advise the OP get 2 x 780's :)

So would you say for the system I should go for 2 780s taking into account I'm a massive noob at putting anything into a computer other than memory and suck up the price jump?

If you are playing in 1 monitor 2 x 780s is not needed. Adding another GPU is very straight forward and you can find plenty of videos on youtube on how to do it.

If you can put in a stick of RAM you can put in a GPU, it's the same idea just with an extra cable from the PSU to find and plug in. It should take roughly 10 minutes, most of that will be getting the tower out from where it's hiding (mostly under crisp packets and crumbs, or maybe that's just me...)

If your are 100% sure your gaming on 1 screen a GTX 780 will be fine, in the future you can add a 2nd one if you need more FPS in the latest games. I only suggested dual 780's because you said you had the budget and wanted to avoid upgrading. I normally would advise against dual 780's because they draw a lot of power and especially if gaming on 1 screen you would never notice.

For the person who wants 7 GPUs in a system, that's fine but Windows won't boot on it. You'll have to use Linux. There are a few companies out there in the world that build 8 GPU systems in specialist cases but they're no good for gaming.

Of the builds suggested I'd go with Keynes' i7 4770 build in the CM Stormtrooper case. Keep the remaining funds to upgrade at a later date or spend the money on something else. I have one other radical suggestion. Save the rest of the money for a 'rainy day'.

You don't need the HyperX Beast if you're not overclocking your CPU (or the k version of the 4770 in that case) as the extra MHz won't be utilised. Go for the HyperX Genesis.

Benq monitors > all
Roccat peripherals > all

Acer monitors are also great, you're guaranteed an excellent build quality.

Do they make mechanical keyboards? always had a preference for them. But thanks for the heads up I just remember being told a few years back razor was the way to go. Also people talk about over clocking and multi monitors is it really needed? It seems very common place last time I knew someone who over clocked a PC was 2001 last PC I built was 1999! And I did have. 2 screen setup once, does it have any real benifit? I've seen people talking about 3 screen set ups seems a bit crazy!

That was my personal opinion, keep that in mind. I do watch/read a LOT of reviews online and people are high on Roccat gear. I recommend Benq as they are the monitor of choice on the pro gaming circuit, you'll see them all over the place at MLG events and such.
Overclocking definitely isn't needed, and isn't recommended if you're opting for the super quiet 22dba cooler.
There's no benefit or drawback to dual monitors I feel. I personally prefer one, choose what you like.
