Need expert opinion on a build question

Forgetting about the cost implications would I be better getting a system for gaming using a overclocked 3930k with a 7970 card or a overclocked 2700k with a 7970 card. I cant decide having read a lot of the review sites i'm leaning towards the 2700k but would go with the 3930k if I felt it would future proof the build better, I want this system to be as beefy as possibile holding it is own in both gaming and benchmarking for quite a few years to come.

Your thoughts please

I dont know if I can wait that long,anyway a few months later faster chips will come to replace them and the cycle continues. I just thought I'd make a build with what is currently available I got a decent budget but want to spend it wisely.
