Need help opening Laptop

Good Morning Everyone,

I need a bit of help opening my laptop.

I have a custom build Elimini Series Laptop (full specs below). It's not even 1 year old but unfortunately, the OS crashed.
PC specialists were kind enough to explain to me how to reset the laptop, however, my laptop backup is on the device and not on an external hard drive/USB (my mistake).

A friend of mine told me I should open it up to remove the hard drive and get a reader to transfer my data before I reset it to prevent loss of all my data.

Now the problem is I have removed all the screws from the back but I don't know how to open the case at the back.
I could e-mail customer service but thought the forum might be quicker to get me help.

My laptop specifications are below:

Have you tried contacting PCS support? They provided me the information on how to open up my Defiance IX. I haven't had a go yet!

As @PhilHibbs suggested I'd contact PCS to get the instructions, they should be able to provide fairly comprehensive instructions on what to do and how to open the laptop to access the component(s) you need too.

I'm not sure what you are looking to achieve by pulling the drive?

The best thing to do is download a fresh copy of windows 10/11 onto a USB (Using the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft). Use that to install Windows on the same drive without overwriting any of the data, almost like an in-place upgrade.

Once that's done, copy over your backup to an external drive, or move it where you can readily access it, and then repeat the process of installing Windows only with a complete wipe of all partitions (to get everything nice and tidy).

I would have lost my work if I didn't get to the hard drive to get the data first before I reinstall Windows 11 but I remembered I have my OneDrive back up. So in the end I didn't have to do open it up.

On a side note, I did manage to get all the screws in the end. Initially, I didn't take off the battery and check there. Found another three screws and once you take those off you can take the back off. I cleaned the fans as they accumulated lots of dust before closing it again.

thanks, everyone for your advice :)

That's not the case, you can install without over-writing, as per my message above.

Glad you got it sorted though :)

I did suggest that right at the start
