Need Help with a reoccurring issue of my PCSpecialist Laptop

Good evening all,

I had previously issues with my hard drive which luckily was replaced by PCSpecialist.
But since I replaced the old one with the new hard drive I kept having an error come up during the start of my laptop:
IPv4 and 6 boot failure.

So I googled and found I need to change my boot settings and I was able to do that. Since then my laptop was starting up like normal. No issues until now.

Now I have the same error as before but it also fails to start my laptop. Now it's saying: default Boot device missing or boot failed.

I don't know what I can do to fix this. In the boot settings I have:
- both IPv are enabled;
- network stack
- PXE Boot capability: UEFI IPv4/IPv6

I don't see IOS in the Boot>EFI settings for some reason.

And on the main page there is no STA port recognised.

I hope I can get some advice how to resolve this issue. I use the laptop for work and this repeated issues with my hard drive are making me go crazy.

Thanks in advance :)

I tried attaching pictures but apparently they are too large 😅

First thing to do is remove the drive and reinsert it, make sure there isn't a loose connection somewhere.

But if you're not seeing the drive in the boot priority, it likely means it's failed.

You would normally want to disable the network stack for the boot priority.

So I did exactly what you are suggesting.

But that didn't help and so after a couple of restarts my laptop suddenly turned on again. Really out of nowhere and I didn't do any change.

So I shut it down again and closed my laptop thinking oh it's fixed but no the same thing happened again but now it turned on when I click on use default settings in the Boot section before I exit.

I'm considering to send it back to PCSpecialist and have them have a look at it because I clearly do not understand what's happening.

Hi Rama930,

Intermittently detected drives can be caused by a faulting motherboard battery (e.g. CR2032) corrupting/losing the BIOS settings. Often replacing the battery, and updating the BIOS can fix this. Beyond this it is likely a bad drive controller or motherboard fault.

Hope this helps...
