Need help

TLDR:
- Have had this laptop for ~4 years with no issues. (No Warranty)
- Last week one of the fans (left side) decides to make a constant loud noise whilst the keyboard vibrating like an electric toothbrush.
- Only happens when a game or a browser with a video is open/playing
- Contacted PCS, if the issue is the fan they no longer have the fans in stock.
- Contacted a private vendor they ran a diagnostic and mentioned the graphics card is damaged as well as the fan unit.
- It looks like the 2 fans are actually one unit, so if one is broken I have to replace both - Not sure if this is true

Question I'm asking is, do I pay the £95 and send it back to PCS to investigate what the actual root cause is, or do I just try and find out the fan unit specs and try and replace the fans myself....

Any help on this would be very very helpful.

Cleaned yes, re-pasted no.

Funnily enough I've just booted a game up without the charger plugged in and the vibration/fan doesn't seem to be an issue.... wonder if it’s power related.

If it's not been repasted, that's the very first thing you want to do, fans will be running too hard to keep temps in check, it's likely overheating anyway.

But that will reduce the RPM the fan has to run at, which will bring down reverberation.

You need to service it once a year to maintain thermals, otherwise it will overheat and fans will go into overdrive to keep up.

The reason fans aren't ramping when it's not plugged in is because the power is throttled, so CPU won't be running as hot so fans won't be working as hard.
