TLDR:
- Have had this laptop for ~4 years with no issues. (No Warranty)
- Last week one of the fans (left side) decides to make a constant loud noise whilst the keyboard vibrating like an electric toothbrush.
- Only happens when a game or a browser with a video is open/playing
- Contacted PCS, if the issue is the fan they no longer have the fans in stock.
- Contacted a private vendor they ran a diagnostic and mentioned the graphics card is damaged as well as the fan unit.
- It looks like the 2 fans are actually one unit, so if one is broken I have to replace both - Not sure if this is true
Question I'm asking is, do I pay the £95 and send it back to PCS to investigate what the actual root cause is, or do I just try and find out the fan unit specs and try and replace the fans myself....
Any help on this would be very very helpful.
