need more power

Not certain about this one - will it be quiet enough (no more Fractal Define 7?), and will the various bits all work together?
Intended use:
- gaming
- video processing
- photo processing (don't mock - Photoshop used 48GB RAM and took 20 minutes to complete a single processing step at the weekend on the PC I bought here two years ago)

The old PC will drive my sim rig and VR headset in another room, so certainly won't be wasted.

This is going to sound stupid but I went for the OC 4080 on the assumption it'd have better cooling and likely be quieter. That assumption may well be very flawed, and the stock 4080 would suffice. The 4090 runs too hot.

Monitor is currently the same but is likely to be upgraded to 3440x1440. I do now have a Valve Index :)

I've also revisited my storage needs. I'm currently only using 400GB on my primary OS drive and bumping the gaming drive to 4TB with comparable performance means I can just combine them. The biggest use of the gaming drive is MS Flight Sim too, which I won't need on the new PC as it'll be running on the sim rig.

Which leaves me pondering the graphics card - I do want silent, and I will pay extra to get it. Based on the configurator linked (thank you), a lower cost but still very capable build looks like this:

Norton should never have been there, good spot.
Fair point on the M2.
By hotter I should've said 'more power hungry'. The 4090 has been measured as using 30-120W more than the 4080 for the same workloads, and that power turns into heat that must be quietly dissipated. I know it won't overheat, but the 4080 will run more quietly. Plus I really just don't need the power of a 4090 :)

Switching out the PCS cooler I'd have to go with Corsair. The H150I ELITE RGB would be fine except.. someone recommended the h115i for my current PC and it's horrifically loud. Although research suggests that this is due to an anomaly on that one model, this has put me off Corsair AIO coolers :(

Adding the 1TB m2 back in, and switching to the h150i bumps me back up to £3734, which is still within budget - indeed, lower than my initial attempt.
