so i ordered the review azure and ive recieved this emal

We are currently processing your order (number 842113) but
unfortunately we awaiting stock of the following items:

ASUS® Z170-A: ATX,
LG1151, USB 3.1, SATA 6GBs: - There is currently a problem with the latest
generation of chipset Skylake Asus Motherboards supporting DDR4 RAM at 3000 Mhz.
This isn't a problem with just machines purchased through PC Specialist, it is a
world wide problem. We are working closely with Asus to be able to resolve this
issues but as it currently stands we can no longer offer these RAM modules. If
you would like to resolve this issue and prevent and further delays, i would
suggest that we change to a working model which would be the 2133 Mhz or 2666
Mhz model which we know works.

not really sure what any of this means, so i figure the forums could help explain, rather than waste time of the sales guys.
need some advice, is this a downgrade? can i possible upgrade instead of downgrade? any advice is very welcome thanks
lee.

Yes it's a downgrade but I doubt you'd notice it if it's a gaming machine. However, a downgrade is a downgrade. If it was me I'd speak to them on the phone and ask if there was a price reduction they could offer or something else they could offer to offset the downgrade like an HD or warranty upgrade.

It is a lower speed that it is not going to be noticeable for gaming but it looks a downgrade. You are not wasting their time, since this is not an official channel of support the sales department are in a better position to give you advice on what to do

It's just the memory timings, the board can't support the 3000mhz ram at the moment, there's a chance Asus et al will release BIOS updates in the future so that it will, but currently it won't work. This mean they've had to reduce the memory timings to a 2133 or 2666mhz dimm to get the order out to you quicker so you'd need to call them to confirm which you were happy with, or alternatively you can wait for ASUS to sort out the BIOS update (could take some time).

EDIT: for gaming, anything over around 1600mhz won't be noticed as an improvement, although for video editing or something more hungry, it does make a difference.

The RAM, because apparently the RAM you have ordered doesn't play well with the motherboard you have ordered - when you ordered this was not a known fact.

You should automatically get the price difference refunded back, though dunno how much it'd be - least that's what I think - though I could be wrong.

Best thing first would be to try to work out what the difference in price is and then haggle. Perhaps another HDD, I can never have enough storage, or, as has been mentioned a warranty upgrade - they should be all for that as it may never cost them, you get the peace of mind they get to gamble on whether you will need to send it back.

cant configure it with 3000mhx anymore so i cant see the difference in price :s i would probably go for the higher 2666

You would never be able to tell unless you looked in the BIOS or something. The price differential will be fairly small and you should get this refunded automatically.

Same system, same problem. I wrote a complaint and the answer was :

"Thank you for your email, I do appreciate that the review system you purchased did originally carry the 3000MHz RAM. We have found that it is in fact very unstable with multiple systems including this one. Due to this we decided it would be better to provide the 2666MHz RAM for stability reasons this hasn’t affected the price as the Review systems are heavily discounted due to the way the advertising systems work. We have to send out a review system 3 months prior to it being reviewed as such we were given engineering samples which worked perfectly whereas the production RAM is having these bizarre issues which we are currently looking into with Asus and Kingston as this issue is a global issue. We do apologise for any inconvenience caused."

I have to say I am not happy because I saw that it can be fixed :

"Overview: "Changed the RAM to 3000MHz, waiting for a BIOS update from Asus"

Thank you very much for taking your time to speak to me today, I would once again like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Our conversation has now been noted on your order, also the Marketing team are looking into this matter.
I have also emailed you my personal email so you can email me directly in future

If I can assist you any further please do not hesitate to contact me.

My question is why is it that you help one custumer and for others is not possible and you chose a downgrade.I will happily pay the differene to change the motherboard and keep the 3000Mhz Ram.

Best Regards
