New Budget Build

Hi there, I am looking at purchasing my first gaming pc and was looking for advice on what I should get. I want to spend the minimum in order to play most games at 60fps at 1080p on high-ultra high settings. I was looking at what CPU and GPU combos would give me best value for money etc.

Any feedback and advice on what build I should get would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Zac

Is this for a PCS build?

These 2 don't mean the same thing. For instance an i3 8100 will probably give similar performance to an i5 8400 in a lot of titles paired with a GTX 1060. But the i5 8400 is ~£50 more and a much better CPU, which will likely support a lot more future GPU upgrades without bottlenecking, such that investing a bit extra into it now ought to save cash in the long run.

What is your budget, roughly? And do you need the monitor, keyboard, mouse within the budget, or just the PC tower?

Thank you for your reply. My budget would be around £800 and monitor, keyboard, mouse etc would not be included in the budget, just the tower itself.

CPU and GPU

Not sure if I'm posting this in the right place but I wanted some advice on something.

I know I want a gtx 1060 6gb but wanted to know the cheapest CPU I could pair it with in order to run most games at 60fps at 1080p. I am not looking to overclock my CPU or upgrade in the very near future. The most I want to spend on the two together is about £300-£350. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Merged your other post into this topic as it's the same subject.

This is about the cheapest it makes sense to go in my opinion.

You can run a GTX 1060 off a dual core pentium and most games will be alright with that, but some will be unhappy and you'll need to replace the CPU when you want to upgrade the GPU in the future.

With a GTX 1060 6gb isn't about £880

Given that a GTX 1060 6gb is, at best, about £250, saying you're only going to spend £50 or £100 on a CPU (which is all you've got left if you have a limited of £300-350 for both the CPU and GPU) is shooting yourself in the foot. It's also pretty weird and arbitrary to pick a random number as your "combined CPU/GPU spend". If the budget is about £800, why does £450-500 need to be carefully preserved for the rest of the system. I'm not sure that's a very popular approach to speccing systems.
