After some consideration decided that custom liquid cooling is not necessary for me and video card was an overkill considering that it will be mostly used for photo editing and not video.
Once again any input would be highly appreciated.

Sorry didn't specify, have at least 15 hard drives 10 ssds at home already :D

Thanks for the input
I would await for some input from the more experience users on this build before going any further

There is no way you need 192GB RAM for Photoshop/Lightroom

You will want to go for a smaller boot drive with a 2TB secondary M.2 for working projects etc.

You don't need the Arctic extreme paste

You don't really need an ASUS card unless you want the brand name

You probably don't need Win11 professional unless you are joining a domain

Finally I'm almost 100% sure that you will be recommend to go AMD

Thank you for your input,

I was sure that memory would be flagged right away but trust me when I say that I actually need it .. :D It won't be utilised 100% all the time or ever, but 96GB on Mac M2 studio ultra is not always enough :/

Regarding boot drive, I have selected that one just because I need it, have another several 2tb 990s at home and have couple 1tb 980s M.2s to make them boot drives if needed but in general extra space is always welcome and at this stage trying to get rid of anything lower than 2tb. Some project passing 1tb capacity..

Arctic paste is only couple quid, can't hurt to add it?

Regarding Asus video card, opted for that one just because going with Asus motherboard and don't really want to go any lower, downgraded form 4080 super OC already.

Win 11 Pro isn't an issue, been using it on my other systems and don't want to walk into any unnecessary limitations.

And I guess Intel or AMD is my biggest concern, tbh I had all AMD setup based on Ryzen 9 7950x done first but checking other forums and benchmarks seems that i9 14900ks has a fair advantage over AMD chip.
This rig wont be used for gaming at all, so any advantages AMD has over Intel in that regard are useless to me.

Thanks again for recommendations and I hope somebody who has experience with similar builds or an expert on this work field could add something or recommend anything at all.

It's been a while since my last build so don't want any mistakes done.

Thank you!

Yes it can, as the perfectly applied paste already on the cooler has to be removed before someone attempts to apply pasta by hand and get a perfect covering

Sorry late to this.

I agree with the GPU, it's worth having the premium Asus model, reason being is they use higher quality japanese transistors and caps which are far better longevity wise under sustained load scenarios. The cooling solutions are that little bit better on the Asus cards which for this use is a definite benefit also.

I agree, for your uses with Adobe, Intel is a better fit. BUT, actually with the thermal issues with the 14900k your original custom cooled build was far closer to the mark. Even on a 360mm Premium Radiator, the 14900k will thermal throttle, the 14900KS is entirely pointless as will never be able to reach the additional frequencies due to throttling. It really needs a 420mm AIO as a minimum, especially for the kind of loads you're going to be applying. I just wouldn't suggest the KS in any scenario, it's an absolute rip off, it offers nothing you can't achieve by basic overclocking on the 14900k, it is exactly the same silicon.

The only amendments I would suggest would be upping the PSU to the 1200W Shift model which is the new ATX 3 format PSU, far more efficient especially for GPU loads.

I would also remove Norton, even just having the trial installed is a huge pain to uninstall and will negatively affect performance. Windows Defender is far better anyway.
