New build RTX 3090 Trinity fans not spinning

Hey,

Hoping you guys might be able to help with an issue I'm having with my RTX 3090..

I got my PC last week and have slowly started setting it up (due to being busy/transferring files over from old PC etc) and only yesterday I got round to testing the gaming/graphics card for the first time and no matter how much stress my PC was under, only one of the three 3090 fans were spinning. It got to a point of where it was going full RPM which was then creating a slight rattling/clicking noise and the other two fans were completely dead. The noise was also just really loud coming from the PC and I'm assuming that's because it was all just left down to one fan going mental.

Even when doing benchmark tests, and simulating a high demanding test for the system, no matter what the 3090 just goes crazy with one fan and the other 2 remain still. This could be helpful and could be telling of something but in GPU-Z that it says that "Fan 1 speed (%)" was spinning and displayed the RPM at 2500+, it also said that Fan 2 speed % was at the same % as fan 1, but the "Fan 2 Speed RPM" was at 0. Showing that it's saying that the fan 2 speed (which I assume is fan 2 & 3) is at the same speed but despite that, it isn't spinning/0 RPM.

The temperatures as a result were running very high in iCUE, one of the sensors on the 3090 were reading 106+ degrees within the game after not playing for long at all, and I thought well no wonder, the other PC fans are doing their job but only one is fired up on the card itself.. I'm aware that the 3090's run pretty hot but by this point I'd expect the other 2 fans to kick in, rather than one going insane and the other 2 just chilling there doing nothing.

I'm also aware that sometimes only the second or third fan in a graphics card kicks in under a certain temperature/task, but again here it seemed like no matter what my PC was going through, they wouldn't fire up. So as a result I'm pretty concerned that the graphics card could be faulty, and this is all on top of the motherboard having a dent in the ASUS Z690 animated display upon arrival which I have no idea how that passed QC. Just feels like perhaps I'm not having a great experience with my build so far if this turns out to be another issue.

I'm really not savvy with building aspect of PC's hence why I got PC Specialist to build it for me, so I'm wondering if the 2nd and 3rd fan just isn't plugged in properly or something? But I can't imagine that would be the case due to that being the builders/testers job. So I'm now just thinking perhaps the card isn't right itself?

Am I right in assuming it's a Zotac card?
What application are you using to control GPU fan speed/curve? Firestorm (Zotac's GPU software) or Afterburner, or something else? And have you updated the Nvidia drivers to the latest version?

In terms of a dent to motherboard, I'd be sending the PC back to PCS for immediate replacement. You don't spend that amount of money to get damaged goods on delivery.

Yup it's a Zotac Trinity. I just reseated the card too with no luck, not that I thought it'd do anything anyway to be honest!

I've used firestorm to control fan speed. When adjusting fan 1 to 100, the same fan that works goes mental as expected when pushing it to 100, and then when switching to manual control for fan speed % fan 2, nothing. Even when set to 100, nothing.. I've also used MSI afterburner with the same results, just one fan working.. Even when going to manual on "fan 2", it just doesn't move.

I've reinstalled the Nvidia drivers several times, uninstalled the device completely from device manager too & none of that has worked either.

Ultimately I agree now. I was going to let the dent slide but now with the 3090 also not fit for purpose I'm just like.. I spent 4k for this? Yikes :(

Thanks. I've done that just now :) I just hope it returns working correctly as I'm still puzzled as to why this was sent to me in the first place. The damage on the display wouldn't have been delivery damage as it looks as though they slipped a screwdriver or something and dented the thin frame around the motherboard display & as for the graphics card, I'm not sure why the 2 fans not spinning wouldn't have been picked up. It doesn't inspire confidence for me :(

Take pictures of the damage before sending it back, for your records.

We love you Ukraine
I have sent it to them via email so that should be proof of time hopefully, but before I send it off I might post them here anyway :) thank you
In case you need it, there's a max filesize of 1MB for uploads, most mobiles will allow you to reduce file size, or you can edit the picture on a pc:
