New computer can't find fan controller

Hey,
I recently bought a new computer from PC Specialist and I am unable to find any software installed to use the fan controller.
The case I bought was the CORSAIR CRYSTAL SERIES 570X RGB GAMING CASE and was told a fan controller came with the case.
On my last computer, which was alienware, there was an easy to use program that allowed me to change the speed of the fans and also see the temperature. Am I missing something obvious because I have looked all over the place and can't find anything fan related on my PC.

Thanks for the help!

If there is a fan controller built into the case you might not be able to control it with software... Your motherboard would control the fans via some sort of software potentially but it depends on how the PC has been wired up (i.e. if the fans are plugged into the controller then this probably won't work).

Does this mean I will be unable to control the speed of the fan? That kind of sucks, the room I am set up in gets super hot and I was hoping the PC would come with a software that allowed me to control the color and speed of the fans as it has a RGB fan kit in it.

Well like I mentioned it will depend on how its all plugged in. Check to see if the fans are plugged into the motherboard directly or whether they're plugged into some kind of fan controller attached to the case (or separate from the motherboard)

What are your specs (specifically the motherboard)?

Some motherboards have the ability to control RGB lighting, but not all of them. At the very least there will be a button on the case which you can use to change the fan colour/speed.

Here is my motherboard "ASUS® ROG MAXIMUS IX FORMULA: ATX, LG1151, USB 3.1, SATA 6GBs - RGB Ready!" it says RGB ready in the name so my hopes are high haha, thank you for the help Steaky, as you can see, I am not an expert when it comes to computers.

I'm not sure what the RGB ready refers to, I believe it means the motherboard has headers you can hook up RGB strips too rather than controlling the colours of LED fans (not sure on that either way).

Looking at the ASUS website for your motherboard indicates that it does have headers for RGB strips, do you have a RGB strip installed or just the RGB fans? - You'll need to check where the fans are plugged into to find out if you can control them via software.

Let me be 100% honest with you, I don't know what the fans are plugged into but I am assuming from where the cables go, it is plugged into the motherboard (the cables are hidden so i can't follow it from start to finish) and yes I do have LED strips as well if that is what you mean.

Page 13 of the case manual http://www.corsair.com/en-gb/crystal-series-570x-rgb-atx-mid-tower-case talks about an included RGB fan controller. I'm not sure where this would be but I imagine inside the case somewhere.

The RGB headers I believe would only be for RGB strips.

You may want to take the side panels off the case to help you follow the cables.

The fans aren't PWM fans, which I believe means they'd just be running at their high speed anyway. You can use free third party software to set custom fan curves for your GPU and CPU fans.

Ah great thanks for finding that manual! I was searching through the box it came in but couldn't find anything. If this is the max speed of the fans then that's cool, will just hope all the cooling is good enough in the summer. So got the fans down, just need to figure out how to set the colour of the LED's.

The motherboard itself has LEDs which can be controlled by Asus's Aura Sync software: https://www.asus.com/campaign/aura/us/Sync.html I believe.

I believe the fans don't work with Aura Sync and you'd need to use the controller that came with the case. If you struggle finding it, you could always phone PCS and ask where they'd have installed it.

The fan controller is on the top of the case near the power button, the three button's control fan speed, rgb colour and finally pattern.

Heh, I did think it was a really dumb idea for Corsair to do the case with an silly little RGB controller that only lives inside the case... but I didn't think to check if the box had any buttons... :pinch: Thanks Sanj

Haha! The 460X come's in three different option's the first two have the controller inside the case which mean's you have to take the side off to gain access to it, seems a little silly to me.:p
