What made you think your windows was corrupted

How did you contact them?

You said they sent you an update rather than installing windows? Where did you download the update, have you got the link?

To be honest, I don't think we're going to be able to help you with this.

I would STRONGLY suggest turning off your computer now and don't use it, give PCS a call in the morning, and go through clean installing windows with them.
It was stuck on the boot screen with an error saying corrupted windows files.

As above, we're not going to be able to help with this, you're going to struggle clean installing if you're unsure of what number you called or the link to the download they provided.

But Microsoft don't offer that service, their support only helps with pretty advanced technical break fixes. I'm afraid you've been duped, it's an age old scam. Your computer will be compromised, if you leave it on it will be uploading keystrokes and usernames and passwords.

My laptop is running fine, pc specialist had a look today after taking control but they didn't know why the control centre is causing the crash that's why I posted here to see if anyone had any similar issues or fixes.

Only PCS can help you, there's nothing we can help with.

Again, Microsoft wouldn't offer support for a startup error, it's basic windows knowledge, Microsoft only help with bug fixes. Microsoft don't even do paid courses at that level, only much higher, for that kind of learning you'd pay for a basic IT course at college or something. But they certainly wouldn't offer support at that level to consumers.

The other alternative is to follow this (courtesy of a @Martinr36 post:

Download a new copy of Windows using the Media Creation Tool (Second option on linked page) to an 8GB (min) USB.
Boot that USB and choose a Custom Install.
Delete all UEFI partitions on the system drive (EFI System, Recovery, MSR Reserved, Primary).
Select the unallocated space that results and click the Next button. The installer will create the correct partitions and install Windows.
Run Windows Update repeatedly, even across reboots, until no more updates are found.
You may need/want to download and install the latest graphics driver from the Nvidia/AMD website (they change so regularly the latest version isn't always in the Windows libraries).

If you dont know what the above means, then speak with PCS as mentioned by @SpyderTracks

Also get it to the stage where you have exhausted all Windows updates then test Windows, then install control center and test again :D
