New Defiance IV Laptop, want to add 2.5" SATA device, how to remove bottom?

Hello PC Specialist forum users,

I'm having a bit of an issue with my new Defiance IV laptop and I'm hoping someone with experience can help.

I'd emailed technical support at PC Specialist on how to add an SSD, and the response was to just take the cover off and add it. I hoped it was just that easy, although having removed all the screws on the bottom and carefully tried to prise away the plastic clips around the edges of the bottom cover, I'm still struggling to take the cover off.

It seems that there's an inaccessible screw or something that prevents me from removing it. I've tried to look in but it's very hard to see what's in the way, just there seems to be a point the bottom bends around; and this being a brand new £1.3k laptop, I'm not looking to break it already!

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks

If you google the Clevo chassis number and look for a service manual, you should find a document with step by step details and illustrations so that if there's something you're missing you can see for yourself. Someone might also have done a teardown video on youtube.

Hi Oussebon, thanks for the help!

I wasn't aware of Clevo before, but I had a look around and found the manual for the PA70HP6 here: http://s472165864.onlinehome.fr/anyware/manuels/PA70HP6.pdf

I was right to remove the screws, but then there's one under the bottom right of the keyboard that needs to come out for the full back to come off. I didn't realise before that the indicated hole needs gently pushing through to move the keyboard out. A bit of a faff but I managed it.
