New Dev PC, thoughts please?

Hello All,
I'm working on a build for myself. I will be bringing over the 1080 in my current PC along with the Storage SSD's and HDD's.
The main use of the PC will be for UE4 projects. Mapping and compiling shaders will be a thing hence me needing as much RAM as possible along with as many threads as possible. I really want the 3900x but with current estimates showing no availability until mid Dec would the 3800x do? 250GB SSD for OS and programs, 1TB SSD for UE4 projects. Hopefully I'll be able to take advantage of the faster speeds of the PCIe 4 motherboard. I chose the 1000W PSU because the 850 is out of stock. Budget is £2k
Any thing I'm missing or any alternatives to the 3900x you could point me at?

I would personally hold off for the 3900X, or even possibly the 3950X which is due in November-ish. The 3950X is going to rule the world for this sort of work at this budget IMO. By which point the 850RMX should be back in stock. The 1000w PSU is an absolute beauty but it's a lot of cash to spend rather than just holding off for a more natural fit.

If you call PCS they maybe able to offer the RM750x as they have offered other models in the past when calling up.

Oh yes, the 3950x seems ideal for my needs... not ideal for my impatience though :D
But you're right, I should wait. I assume that there isn't anything Intel in the pipeline which could compare at this price point?

Very doubtful to be honest. I think the 3950x will have really put the cat among the pigeons to be honest. There's nothing close from Intel at that price point for productivity.

In your shoes, I would definitely hold off. If you really can't, go for the 3700x as the 3800x is pretty much pointless. The choice should always be between the 3700x and the 3900x (Until the 3950 is out of course).
