New games laptop — good enough to play Cyberpunk 2077

My current games laptop is a PC Specialist build from 2014 (Optimus Series, Intel® Core™i7 Quad Core Mobile Processor i7-4710MQ, 8GB RAM, GTX 860M). It's struggling with games now…. Seems to get worse everytime Microsoft change something in Windows.

So I'm now looking for something that will play Cyberpunk 2077 reasonably well. It'll have to be a laptop for portability reasons and lack of space for a desktop. I'm looking at two options:

Option 1:
Recoil Series: 15.6" Matte Full HD 240Hz 72% NTSC LED Widescreen (1920x1080)
Intel® Core™ i7 Eight Core Processor 10875H (2.3GHz, 5.1GHz Turbo)
32GB Corsair 2133MHz SODIMM DDR4 (2 x 16GB)
NVIDIA® GeForce® RTX 2070 - 8.0GB GDDR6 Video RAM - DirectX® 12.1
2TB SAMSUNG 970 EVO PLUS M.2, PCIe NVMe (up to 3500MB/R, 3300MB/W)
but this comes in at just over £2k.

Option 2 same as option 1 but with
16GB RAM
1TB H10 NVMe SSD
which brings it to £1800. (So 10% down.)

Is option 1 likely to get good performance out of Cyberpunk 2077 (slightly difficult to judge when it's not been released yet)? Reasonably future proofed?
How important are 16 vs 32GB RAM and the various SSD choices?

Thanks!

Assuming you’ll be playing without an external monitor with higher resolutions, it should be more than enough for 1080p. Then again who knows what performance to expect from Cyberpunk. I reckon it will be fine on a 2070 though

I tend to plug my laptops into a monitor, but it'd still be 1080p rather than 4k.

Two further thoughts:
- How much better is the 2070 Super over the 2070?
- Are these likely to be any use with a VR kit, e.g., occulus rift? Never played with VR stuff, but may as well make sure it's possible....

I have the 2070 super and the improvement over the 2070 was not worth it to be honest. Plus my my 2070 super runs too hot after a while and drops the clocks. My 2070 super In my recoil Iv is actually getting lower benchmark scores than my proteus laptop that I had with a regular 2070 and 8750h

That’s not because the GPU isn’t worth it, that’s because you have thermal issues that need addressing. The laptop isn’t running the way it should and needs sorting out.

The 2070 Super is a big step up from the 2070 in performance.

any benchmarks I’ve seen put the super about 10 percent over the regular
