New Gaming Build & Monitor

Hi all,

Relatively new to pc gaming so forgive the lack of knowledge. Would really appreciate some advice please. Budget is around 2k for desktop & monitor.
I've had a quick research and for that budget I was thinking 1440p was the most suitable target. Ideally I would like a larger screen so I was thinking something like a 34 inch Samsung Odyssey G5 LC4G55TWWRXXU 165hz if that isnt sacrificing too much re pixels at 1440p.

Im looking to play AAA games like Starfield and Total War, happy on medium settings, not a lot else.

Looked at a couple of builds and got the below. Thank you in advance!

Other than these changes i'd upgrade the gpu/power supply up to your budget if you plan on playing on anything above 1080p, you can use powersupply calculators online and just add 100w to whatever they say tho 850-1000 will be enough for sure and 750 will be fine for non overclocked settups.

Looks like a really good build. 1TB may be a little on the low side for storage but you can always add more later.

My biggest concern would be the display: the Samsung is good but it's a VA panel which is inferior to an IPS option. If your budget can stretch I'd suggest the Gigabyte M34WQ instead.

Thank you both, I noticed for a little more I could upgrade the CPU to the 7600x or even the 7700x but then thought I may also then need to upgrade the cooling too? I appreciate theres always more to add but do you think that would be worth it?

The cooler is very good. For the 7700X it may be a little marginal, but will almost certainly be plenty for gaming. Perhaps the best choice might be the 7700 (non-X), which is super efficient and a great gaming CPU. You can either run it stock with a good but unremarkable air cooler (the FrostFlow 150 is enough) or enable PBO and get somewhat better performance with a better cooler like the H100i.

Great advice thank you, Im also very tempted to up the budget for a better build below. Regarding that Gigabyte m34wq monitor the curved version seems to be a VA panel itself. Im struggling to find a budget friendly IPS curved monitor?

Looks a super build, though I'd go for say a P41+ 2TB rather than the P44 1TB. You'd benefit more from capacity than from raw speed in my opinion for a games drive.

Yes, the curved version is VA, but the good option is the flat IPS panel. It's far superior.

Understood, thanks again for the help. Im really interested in a curved screen so I will decide how much I want to pay of the mortgage and pull the trigger!

If you really want a curved screen, the AOC CU34G2X is the value option. For a bit more, the Dell S3422DWG is a good choice too. Both are better choices than the Samsung.

Personally I'd prefer the better quality screen to a curved one.

Hugely agree with this, IPS vs VA is a far more valuable improvement over curved or flat.

Spent hours looking for budget curves and came up with the Dell S3422DWG and now you've just convinced me to go for the IPS giga anyway haha. You guys are amazing and Im really grateful again for the help. Its so helpful to get some direct opinions.
