About to press the order button on the spec below - any issues people can see? In case helpful, it's mainly for gaming to play latest games on very good settings and for some years to come, needs to be fairly portable but battery life is not an issue. I don't have much in the way of storage needs either. thanks

Before I press go on the above, is it worth waiting for the AMD/3080 configuration to be back in stock? I spoke to PCS yesterday and they said they currently have no ETA on the AMD/3080 laptops (I gather the CPU and GPU are soldered to the motherboard) hence why you can't currently mix and match as they don't have that combination in stock. I've read quite a bit on here about AMD being a better bet than Intel due to heat and performance? Is it worth waiting or should I just crack on? thanks

This piece does a review of the Intel i7-11800H and compares with the 5900H and 5900HX.

It has to be said that the 10nm Rocket Lake CPUs have narrowed the gap to AMD considerably. AMD was leaving Intel in dirt when they only had Comet Lake. On games, the Intel seems to win; on productivity the AMD but it's close on both. Intel though still needs more power to do that and it's boost period is shorter.

Personally I'd wait for a AMD, ideally a 5900H, rather than the 5900HX. For me thermals on a laptop always trump performance but if gaming at max performance is what it's only about then YMMV.
