New gaming PC long overdue!

Evening all,

Been nearly 7 years since I bought my last PC and back to the experts to help tweak / amend the build.

I use the PC for gaming mainly (Diablo 4 probably the most recent highest requirements, which I obviouslywant to run ultra with no issues) with some multi tasking from time to time while gaming also.

Using 2 1440p 144mhz monitors.

Idea behind the build is to be efficient with both parts and cost (happy to spend a little more if it will give me more longevity or higher performance at good value) but also hopefully have this PC still relevant enough in 4+ years time similar to my last 2 I build.

Specs of my 1st stab below looking at Scott's recent guide have sided with AMD for the 1st time ever both CPU and GPU.

Not really got a budget within reason so if there are improvements to be made happy to pay for them but at the same time happy to drop down if I am paying for nothing.

Any help that you can give would be appreciated as always, any questions happy to answer too.

Thanks for the reply. Just read another post discussing the 7950X3D v 7800X3D and sounds like the 7950 is a bit of a nightmare :)

So would you say this build pretty much is top optimisation for gaming right now? (guess I'm trying to get over the fact it's cheaper than the one I bought 7 years ago xD)

Cheers - so idea would be what to clock at 4800 or 5600 until resolved? (also any idea where's the best reliable source to know when it is fixed?)

Clock it as high as you can but still have it be stable, right now 5600 seems to be a nice stable spot

As for the best place, most of the reputable tech youtube guys are good for this stuff I personally like Gamers Nexus. You could even just pop in here every now and then and ask for an update we're usually pretty up to date and current on the knowledge so someone will be able to advise

Unless you forsee a need for oodles of PCIe lanes, I'd also suggest you could happily go down to the B650 motherboard, rather than spending the extra £100 on the X670E board.

Good call. I'm always in 2 minds on the X670 vs B650 boards...the X670 gives the PCI-e5.0 lane but there's question marks over when anything that can utilise it will be released, although I'd hope it would be within this system's life cycle
Products that can theoretically use it, very possibly. But things that will need it? I think that's very unlikely. Even the top-end graphics cards don't need PCIe 4 yet, only the borked low-end ones produced during the graphics card crisis with just four lanes.

Went with the x670 before this post but will leave as is :)

Got the ram already waiting for the new setup next week!!

Cheers again all.

FYI got the Ram and didn't like it being clocked any higher than 4800 so I'll sit at that till updated. Pc is smooth and looks the part thanks again!!
