I'm finally able to buy a new gaming PC and my max budget (as the title says) is about £1500. £1400 is preferable but £1500 is max. I'm mainly wanting to check if what I've got is suitable for gaming. I play a bunch of different games such as Battlefront 2, Hearts of Iron, Minecraft (haha), League of Legends. I'm wanting this computer to last. Meaning not needing me to upgrade it so urgently as I'm not exactly the best with hardware. This is why I've chose quite a big power supply as that's one of the things I don't want to even mess with if I have to replace it for a bigger one.

Aside from Gaming, I also use it for games development so I use programs like Unity and the Unreal Engine quite a bit. I think the main thing they need is a fast CPU which is what I'm hoping I've chosen as the CPU has always been a bottleneck for my computer. Especially when it comes to high CPU usage games such as Hearts of Iron so CPU is very important.

Cooling and quiet is another key if possible as my current computer honestly sounds like a jet and is normally constantly at 60C when just browsing google chrome

The monitor I'm going to be using for it is a Acer XF240H (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Acer-XF240Hbmjdpr-Monitor-FreeSync-Adjustable/dp/B01684HUJU).

Few changes from me... You won’t actually see any real benefit from the RTX 2060, maybe if you’re playing the new Flight Sim but it’s negligible. So I’ve dropped to the 1660 Super and improved the base build. That way, if you want to upgrade in future, you can just pick a new GPU and suitable monitor and you’re good to go 👍

I accidentally put the 1660Ti in there! Oops! Drop that to the 1660 Super and it’s coming out at £1451.

Thanks for the build :) How come you changed the case?

There’s better airflow in the Lian Li Lancool. The iCue 220T is good, I have it myself. But the three front fans aren’t the quietest, which I took into account when I read your initial post.

I noticed you didn’t put a WiFi card in your build, will you not need one?

I'm fine with a little noise though just not super loud. I kinda prefer the look of the ICue 220T, does it still have good airflow even if the Lian Li lancool has better?

And nah. I use ethernet.

You should be okay with the iCue 220T then, just make sure you get the Corsair H100i RGB Platinum cooler with it, the innards of your system will appreciate it 👍

Fair enough on the WiFi, but I thought it might be worth mentioning that the AX200 wireless card comes with Bluetooth, might be worth adding it for £18 if you have any peripherals that’d use it.

Do you need a 12 core CPU and the 2060 Super? If you are indeed playing the new Flight Sim I'll shut the hell up but for for a standard gaming build and a 1080p monitor, I can't really see the point...

I noticed you've also dropped the cooler to a lower grade one, don't know if you missed my earlier post so I'll just copy and paste it down here:

I use a few game development programs which take good use of a better CPU as I thought getting a fast one would be best.

Also yea. I said I was concerned about cooling but really as long as it works, I'm happy haha. Unless that's a really bad cooler then I'm okay with it :) Especially as it help makes the price exactly £1500

It's not a bad cooler, but with if you're going for the 3900 CPU, you're really going to feel the benefit of having a liquid AIO. Especially in that case because it's quite small.

I would highly recommend it, that CPU will put out a fair amount of heat and the Corsair will do a much better job of dealing with it. In a case that size, a fan cooler is really going to struggle to cope.

I've never used a liquid cooler before so I'm kinda nervous about using one. Like does it require any special maintenance?

Na, they're AIO (all in one). So it's a closed loop system that requires absolutely zero maintenance. Failure rates are absolutely tiny these days, at least two of the superusers on here have had them running 8-10 hours a day for over 5 years without any trouble. The Corsair ones are top-quality and the H100i RGB Platinum is whisper quiet :)(y)

The main concern I have is the idea of it leaking when I move it around from house to house (As I'm at Uni currently). Worried about turning it on it's side to transport and then having it leak. Would I also need to clean it of dust like a air cooler?

Do you also recommend a possible cheaper version as while I can spend £1575 which it turns it too. I'd prefer cheaper if possible

EDIT: I have just noticed that the 3900 has a TDP of 65 so surely air cooling is fine?

I ended up switching out the case due to some reviews stating not a great amount of airflow and limited size. Have also kept the Cooler due to (like I said above) that the TDP of the 3900 is only about 65 I think

Now that you’ve picked the Lian Li you’re more likely to get away without needing the AIO, it’s a quality case with great airflow. I’d still ideally want liquid cooling but perhaps that’s just my proclivities since becoming a convert to them 😆

The extra fans are a bit cheap and noisy... but they’ll do the job. If you’re not afraid to open up the case and get your hands in there, you can source better quality ones online at relatively low cost and fit them yourself.

You ready to pull the trigger and order?

If I could do without the extra fan then that'd be preferred. I assumed I'd need it to optimize airflow as I'd assume they'd put all the provided fans on the front of the case instead of maybe two at the front and then one at the back. I'm not afraid to get my hands in there but I don't really trust myself not to magically break something haha

Almost! Just gotta wait for the paycheck and then I'm able to buy! I appreciate all your help
