New Gaming PC time!

Hey all!

It is that time where I need to get a brand new Gaming PC and would like some feedback.

I am fairly sure regarding the CPU / Motherboard / GFX card etc. is what I want but was hoping for an overall feedback regarding the build, including case, power supply and cooling choices.

I am hoping to buy this as 'future-proof' and not be upgrading in a couple of years.

Cost is around the budget i was looking for but if a little more will improve this massively I will do so.

Thanks all!

It is difficult to give feedback if you don't indicate your intended use and your maximum budget as it seems you could spend a bit more. Thanks

Will be using the computer for gaming mainly, always a fan of the newest games and my current PC is starting to struggle with anything higher then medium.

At the moment the res on the monitor is 1920 x1080 but will be looking to change that to 4k pretty soon.

Budget wise this is roughly where i want to be 2-2400 but again if an upgrade will cost a little more but benefit hugely I am open to it.

Went for overclocked spec to have a look at the comparison which is below. The PC i have at the moment has lasted a good few years (also from here) and hoping to get the same out of this one.

Don't think games would benefit from a six-core CPU and 32Gb of ram. Stick to an overclocked i7 6700k and 16Gb of ram. Also, perhaps an EVO 850 would be better as SSD. But it's a personal choice.

I guess my other consideration would be is waiting for the 1080ti and next intel CPU in january maybe going to work out better? Just want to make sure my 2-2.5k is invested properly :)

If you're happy to wait, I'm sure there's no harm in waiting to Jan to see what 2.5k will net you then with Kaby Lake and the GTX 1080 ti

I'd echo what was said about the 6700k being better than the 6800k for gaming. It's both cheaper, and also performs better:

This may be even more the case with Kaby Lake.

If you decide not to wait, then I'd suggest drawing up a spec in this configurator instead:

Thanks for the advice all, will wait until January and asses it then. Appreciate the information.
