It looks overkill for gaming. What type of games do you play? 1 monitor? Planning to run CPU intensive applications?

What would you suggest? I want to future proof as much as you can these days

I don't think you need a Gtx 680 to run those games at high settings, an hd 7850 will be a cheaper alternative as well as an i5-3570. You can get a very decent spec for less £1000 that will last you for a while, I'd suggest spending a fraction of your budget and just upgrade in 3 years time.
