New Laptop Advice and Help Please

Hi,
I'm starting a course in Cybersecurity/ Coding and need some advice for a much needed laptop update.
I'm currently very limited in my knowledge base and I'm working at changing that, but currently have very little idea of what would be ideal.
I travel quite a bit the the weight is important, i was thinking either a 14" or 15.6".

Please let me know what other information you need and I'll fill in as best as I can.

What's you maximum budget?

would be doing some gaming, but nothing too intensive ie Lol, Boderlands, but it wouldnt be a priority.
