No problem, i havent seen any performance reports on the HD8970m yet as Notebookchecker hasn't got there hands on it yet, pretty excited to hear how this card performs though i think it will be a weapon though. :)

I have a 15.6" Vortex IV in the build stage at the moment. Same spec but with the GTX 780m. I was toying all weekend over the 770m, 780m and the HD 8970M. The HD 8970m gave the 780m a good run in my mind but the lack of performance reports swayed me to the 780m. As the post before, I am sure it is a superb card and, a nice saving over the 780m.

Yeah i had the same dilema when ordering my Vortex 2 a year and a bit ago but the AMD card hasn't let me down, price was a big factor at the time. it still runs most things on High to Ultra today with a few tweeks. Some cards just perform better with other cards eg, Tomb Raider runs better on AMD and Borderlands runs better on the Nvidia. But both cards will still run both games extremely well.

Thanks guys. :) I was stretching the budget on the HD 8970m as it was so the 780m wasn't even an option. On paper though the 8970m looks a beast so hopefully it will fly. I shall report back once I have it. ;)

I look forward to that as, it looks like it will push everything on high/ultra for a long good while.

I deliberated long and hard as I was sure the HD 8970m would give me a better bang to bucks ratio especially having previously only gamed on a Macbook with a 256mb graphics card. Then I figured I have not purchased a laptop since early 2009 and, can do some overtime to balance the spend.

PCS seem to be selling quite a few Vortex's over the last week based on threads on here :)
