New Optimus PRO XI - 40FPS, 3DMark Time Spy - 5900 score.

Hi All

Just got my OPTIMUS PRO XI today, Core I7-10750H, RTX 2060, 16GB Corsair 2666Mhz, M2 SSD OS drive
Run a benchmark test using 3D Mark, and in Time Spy only getting 5900. I was expecting somewhere in the 7000-7500 range atleast.
I am thinking about contacting support, but just wanted to post here first maybe to understand if this is a known problem, am I missing something?

The fans don't appear to kick in very heavily when I run the benchmark, like its not ramping up for gaming?

Would appreciate any input.

No sorry, I was comparing to a friends who has a similar laptop but with a GTX 1080, hes getting over 7k - am I not expected to hit these types of scores with the hardware listed above? If that is the case, then I'm a happy camper..?

I wouldn't compare to a friends system, that's not really viable there could be countless factors at play.

Is it underperforming in games?

Have you checked thermals to make sure it's running optimally?

Did you order with or without windows?

Fair enough.

I haven't noticed any under-performance, and I guess that's really what I should focus on, I was just expecting a higher score but clearly I was mistaken.

Thermals appear to be okay.

Ordered it without Windows and put my own on.

Did you wipe the windows that was on there and install from scratch or just license the test windows?

How did you install drivers?

I just licensed the version they put on, as I had a Pro key - so everything appeared to be installed, I've checked device manager for driver updates but there doesn't appear to be any on the main components

Yeah, that installation won't be complete or configured correctly, you need to perform a clean install with the latest image, then let windows update install all drivers except nvidia and clevo control center which you get from www.clevo.com.tw

Okay so I've reinstalled Windows, reactivated, patched to 2020-04, installed all of my drivers from PCS account, the only thing I'm struggling with is the touchpad. The drivers don't have a setup, and the PDF to follow is all written in Chinese, does anyone have experience with these drivers who can advise how I should go about installing them? The Touchpad on/off button works - but the mouse doesn't move the left/right click dont work.

You don’t use drivers from PCS, they’re only relevant at the time of building. You need to let windows update install all drivers, if there are any missing, you get them from clevo and display from nvidia.

best to do a reinstall as drivers will be borked.

Okay, when I rebuild, where does the touchpad driver come from? Because before I did any of the drivers, I installed Clevo CC, and the touchpad still didn't work, I only opted to install the drivers because of that fact

Clevo cc isn’t a driver, it’s just a control suite that taps into all the drivers. Before you can install anything you just run windows update which should install all drivers. Keep running windows update until there are none left.

Yes, that is what I did, everything was working, except the Touchpad. I am happy to do it again for the sake of trying, but it certainly didn't appear to work the first time.

I only installed CC as one of the previous posts in here said CC was needed for Hotkey support, I thought maybe the on/off hotkey for the touchpad wasn't functioning.

PCS replied to my tech support request, even after the new fresh install - with no additional drivers (windows updates only) - the touchpad still would not work.

PCS told me to use the IO Drivers from the list (not the touchpad one) and this has resolved the problem.

Thanks

Hi Steven, did you ever solve the fan situation? I've sent mine back today as it was reaching 95 degrees and no fan change. PCSPECIALIST tech support couldn't help over the phone. Even on 100% cpu load with a stress test there is no fan change. Another guy on reddit has the same issue with his new optimus PRO....

I'm the other guy :)

Firestrike is designed for desktops, don't use that. Use the one actually designed for gaming laptops otherwise you will score poorly.
Just ran mine, the one you're looking for is Sky Diver, mine scores around 31k, could have been 26k though cant quite remember.
