New PC beeps on start up

Hi, I just got my PC delivered yesterday and it beeps on start up which I'm assuming isn't usually a good sign. It does 1 beep then a pause and 4 more beeps in succession. I saw somewhere that I should check the mother board manual but I couldn't see anything about warnings or beeps. The computer seems to work fine right now. Does anyone know what the beeps mean?

My main concern is that I'm going back home for a week and so I can't fix it or send it back for that time.

Thinking of the four beeps after the initial one, are they all the same length or is the first on longer than the other three?

Assuming it's one long and three short, that's either indicating a graphics card issue or a RAM issue - it depends on the BIOS manufacturer. If you want to know which BIOS you have (once it's working of course), open the Run command box and enter the command msinfo32. About one third of the way down the first page is the BIOS vendor (it's the BIOS Version/Date field).

This is probably something shifting during transit, it's not that uncommon. Open up the case and pop the graphics card out and then reseat it fully home. Also pop the two RAM cards out and reseat them fully home. Whilst you're in the check that everything else is properly seated and that all connectors are fully home.

You'll probably want to wear an ESD strap when you do this, or leave the PC plugged in but switched off and ensure you're touching the metal case to keep yourself grounded and avoid a static discharge.

Do you turn your monitor on before or after you start the system? It has been reported in the past (a few threads on this forum), as I indicated above, some monitor/system combinations will beep if the monitor is turned on after you have started the PC..my guess it gets to POST and doesn't detect the monitor signal so interprets it as a graphics failure. Of course, you may already be turning the monitor on before or, like my monitor, the system starting automatically turns the monitor on...in which case, just ignore my rambling
Excellent point!

I normally turn the monitor on after I hit the power button but I turned the monitor on before and got the same result

I would try plugging it into your display with another type of cable like DP.

This is a known bug with Asus motherboards, it's down to the HDMI having an extra PIN connecting on the motherboard which shouldn't be connected.

Hi, I finished reseating the graphics card and RAM but I still have the same beeps on start up. Should I try reseating it again or is there any other known issues that it could be?

Oh sorry I didn't see the above! Luckily I have a DP arriving tomorrow. I did think the cable I'm using could be the issue (I used my PS4 hdmi cable which I've had for 4 years as a quick substitute). Thanks!
It’s not an issue with the cable per se, more the motherboard. They don’t allow for older HDMI connectors without beeping which is really a bug more than anything.

The fact you’re getting no other symptoms and it’s booting ok does suggest it may be the cable. My bet is the beeps will stop with a DP cable.
