New PC Squealing Noise From PSU/GPU?

New PC arrived today and it seems to be making a squealing/whining noise at the back of the case when running games. I noticed it gets even worse the higher the FPS.

Anyone have any idea why this could be? I read it could be coil whine, but the squealing sounds a lot worse. When I tab out of a game, it stops straight away.

Could you limit the frames per second to the same as your monitor max launch a game then listen for the sound also if you could record the sound and upload it to somthing like youtube can help us figure out the problem

It might be coil whine coming from the GPU. Try following the instructions given above by @jamiephillips909 :)

My initial thought is coil whine, especially with it becoming louder/more noticeable with higher FPS. I have exactly the same issue with my 3080Ti.

I found that a great way to alleviate the issue is to apply an FPS cap through Nvidia Control Panel. As my monitor is 144hz with Gsync, I capped my FPS at 141, and enabled Gsync and Vsync. Here's the guide I followed for anyone interested: https://blurbusters.com/gsync/gsync101-input-lag-tests-and-settings/14/

If you don't have Gsync, I'd still advise applying an FPS cap to match that of your monitor.

Once I did this, the noise is still present during particularly demanding games (CP 2077, Tales of Arise, Doom Eternal), but is far quieter than before and can't really be heard over the fans.

As someone else once phrased GPU coil whine: "It's just your graphics card singing to you".

If you're still concerned that it's something more sinister, catch it on video, upload it, and post it for the guys here to take a look at.
