Its going to mainly used for work (software development) but also for occassional gaming. I want to be able to play arma 3 so i would like to know how it would run with this spec?

Arma 3 is very CPU intensive so this should work very well, a few points I would raise:

1. The WD Dual SSD and HDD drive is expensive for what it is, you would be better getting The 120GB Hyper X or Samsung and the Caviar Black HDD. Especially if one of the drives fails, you would have to replace the whole unit.

2. The H100i is quite loud, unless you are planning to overclock the CPU you would be better off with the Hyper 212 air cooler

Im planning to get some more ssd's at a later point, probably will go for the samsung. Currently most of my storage is nas but still wanted at least 1tb on the desktop itself. Wd black seemed like a good compromise. What do people think of gtx 970? I heard that it can only utilise 3.3.5gb rather than the full 4gb..

Don't be put off, if you're gaming at 1080p the GTX 970 is phenomenal, both in terms of price and performance. If you're looking at going down the 4K route, either get a GTX 980 and a power supply good enough to handle two of them down the road, or wait for the Titan/AMD 3XX series.

Despite the vram issue, the GTX 970 is still an incredible card. Are you planning on going 1440p/4k at all? If so I'd go with what Karnivore said

Planning on just 1080 gaming for now (the screen is only 1080) so glad to 970 will be good enough. Just changed the hard drive to 500gb Samsung EVO 850 + standard 1tb wd, which only worked out £30 more (thx Cadwah for the suggestion). Will keep the H100i as i do plan to overclock and not worried about the noise.
Hopefully will be able to max out bf4 and and arma 3..
