I will allow the hardware experts to comment on changes but it'd also help to know if you have/need peripherals (keyboard, mouse) and screens? If you already have a screen/screens, do you know the resolution and frame rates? If not, then the model numbers will help.

I would just add you'll get far more bang for your buck if you go down the AMD route - they are significantly better processors right now (and much fewer security issues).

Thanks Tony, yes I have all the screens and mouse etc from my previous setup, just after a new tower now as mines around 5 years old and it showing it’s ages bless it lol. I’ve never owned or been down the AMD route tbh, I’ve only ever had intel cpus and nvidia gcards so I just went with what I’m use to tbh.

That is understandable - in fairness, AMD launched the original Athlon x64 and it was a massive hit (they beat Intel to the 64-bit CPU race). They unfortunately then rested on their laurels somewhat and allowed Intel to take over again. There were other factors as well, of course.

AMD these days kick Intel into the long grass - they run cooler (they have much smaller dies than Intel have been able to manage) and generally just outperform across the board. I believe Intel can still win on a single core/thread basis but that's about all (and that may no longer be true, either, to be fair).

Intel had a nightmare with SPECTRE and then it's felt like there have been one security scare after another with them to the point where the only mitigation is to cripple your CPU by turning off Hyperthreading, losing almost 50% of its performance.

Then there's the issues they've had with management chips allowing logins without a password and all manner of other things.

TL/DR - Intel are playing catchup with AMD right now and are still a long way off even being on an even footing. AMD are more secure :)

If you could provide the model number of any screen you plan to attach it'll help as there's no point in overspeccing a GPU if the screen won't benefit, for example.

I have 2x HP24x 144hz if that helps lol?

been looking all over the place tbh for a new PC, but OCuk seem expensive compared to what I can get here at PCS.

If you can recommend swooping some bits to AMD or what ever then please let me know, just my budget is £1300, the two specs above are just what I’ve been looking for, if you can think of any changes that are “better” but keeping it under the budget let me know dude :)

Alas hardware isn't my forté but there are folks here who will be able to offer real insight to make sure you get the best for your money :)

I don’t spose you know about SSDs? Preferably the e.g. (2000 MB/R, 1100 MB/W) the PCS 1TB, I don’t know much about SSDs tbh what’s good what’s not :/

Wow, thank you. Would you say this would be more bang for buck then my intel build?

thank you so much for help bud, and saved me afew quid also, I may change up the ram to the RGB version and the case to a fancy flashy one 😁 but appreciate your input, thank you!
Yeah, things like that are good to change. I wouldn't go lower than the Fractal G as those wouldn't be suitable cooling wise. But of course, RGB RAM is an absolute certainty ;)

just seems crazy how it’s a cheaper build by about £150 and it’s going to be faster/better. I’m guessing AMD is leading the way now then over intel? Sorry I’m not very clued up when it comes to PCs, I’m a welder lol 🤦🏻‍♂️

Intels chips are just refreshes of their old 2015 Skylake design. All they’ve done is up frequency and add more cores rather than investing into new architecture. They thought they could get away with it and had no idea that AMD had Ryzen 3000 ready so early, basically they dropped the ball really really badly by being greedy and controlling the market for so long.

Now that AMD are smashing them, Intel have backed themselves into such a corner they have nothing to offer until they can get on 7nm production which won’t be until 2022 at the very earliest, and even then, AMD will be on 5nm so they’re going to have a massive fight on their hands to regain any form of competition.
