Am looking at a new pc for video editing cant decide between the 3 i7 cpu's available, at the moment I have a i7 2600, would I need 2gb or a 1gb graphics card, and how much ram and what type.
Would appreciate any feedback before ordering.

Top price would be around £1100, I don't need any hard drives as I have 2 1tb drives in other pc, just need a case, cpu, ram and graphics card.

If it's video editing rather than gaming then the Intel would be better it has a better CPU at the cost of a lower graphics card.

General comment: I don't think you are going to see a huge improvement over your current Sandy Bridge i7 system, unless that has some problem. I mean, you'll see some improvement but not, I would think, of the wow-I-can't-believe-how-much-faster-this-is kind that people often like to get when they upgrade. To get that, you would probably need to go for an LG2011 mega-beast with overclocked CPU, 32GB of fast RAM, RAID 0, the whole shebang. But that would be a lot more expensive.

Sticking within your budget, you could consider an overclocked 3770K with 16GB RAM, something like a GTX-650, and an SSD (to supplement your existing HDDs). Similar to ilike2burnthing's Intel spec but with more CPU and less GPU.

I don't have a particular problem with current system other than video program gets a program not responding then seems to catch up and off we go again, as it's 2 years since I purchased this pc I assume that things would have evolved, but if there is not a significant improvement I wonder if it is worth upgrading yet. I have been looking at an I7 3930k, what are your thoughts.

Thanks for all your help still undecided if it is worth purchasing a new pc but will take on board all your ideas.
