New system ALMOST perfect - How to wire Creative 7.1 speakers to onboard sound

Hi all,

Received my new system recently and it's a dream!

However,

I'm struggling to connect Creative Inspire T7700 to my On Board sound card correctly. It seams that the creative speakers have a proprietary cable to connect to a soundblaster card. The problem is that the side speakers don't work.

The creative cable has 3 jacks at the soundcard end and 4 jacks at the speaker end. They seem to be using a "4 ring" jack at the soundcard which then splits into two seperate jacks at the speaker end?

I've tried using a seperate jack to jack cable between "side speaker out" on motherboard and "side speakers in" on subwoofer but it doesn't work?

Any ideas or experience of this?

FIXED! Ignore post

Turns out that when I was trying a standard jack - jack for the side speakers I had it plugged into "mic" at the onboard sound !!! Numpty of the year award on its way! - To be fair I am crawling under a desk and using a torch from a silly angle!

Hehe, yes, we all know the 'well, that might be the right jack' issue when you can't actually really see anything very well
