New to Gaming Rigs - Wondering if this is sufficient

I'm new to custom-built gaming PCs and I am wondering if this will be sufficient to run most games at high FPS. I mainly play WOW, COD, LOL + a little bit of new world (but not so much any more)

Would love to know if there are any issues with the build as well. I was a little over budget for this anyway so hopefully this will be enough

Hi, what was/is your budget? How much does the above come too? Can you include the configurable link to your spec?

What monitor do you have/will you be using?

This is as close as I could get mate, I personally would have liked to have selected one of the cheaper air coolers for this CPU as it doesn't get all that hot but unfortunately they are all out of stock.

You would get more longevity from this one mate and the 12th gen Intel are a massive upgrade over the 11th gen. This should handle your needs at 1080p just fine

Thanks for taking a look at this. I am a complete noob but will the 2.5gz be enough with the 16gb less RAM in your build?

It's the budget that's limiting those options unfortunately. The CPU boosts to 4Ghz, so it's a lot better than 2.5Ghz as mentioned, but it's not the best for gaming. It'll do a fine job for your uses though.

Similar with the RAM. 16GB is enough for gaming just now, if the budget is there for more RAM then 32GB would be a fine option. It's more of a luxury splurge though.

None of the games listed above will use close to 16GB of RAM mate so I wouldn't worry about that

Also CPU's are more than their base clock speed. 2.5Ghz is just it's base speed it can go up to 4Ghz on it's own, all CPU's these days can boost themselves so hard and fast numbers aren't easy to work out without doing a fair bit of research. The 12400F is respectable though and will be fine for your uses

I forgot to mention I will be streaming to twitch on the PC - Likely using OBS or another software (I don't think i'll need the streaming card for now) will that require additional RAM.

I also have a question on the power supply - I see you added the 750W power supply which the calculator is saying is in excess of the requirements. Is this to allow for additional components at a later date?

Yeah 750W is to add components or make upgrades later, honestly going by trends this may still be on the very light side. New GPU's are looking to be stupidly power hungry so 750W could be cutting it very close unfortunately. If the budget is there I recommend a minimum of 850W or 1000W these days to cover for future upgrades

16Gb should be fine for streaming but again it depends entirely how involved this will be, how many programs will be running and such but 16Gb should still do the job. For streaming I'd rather invest in the 12600k than spend more money on more RAM

RAM is cheap and easily added at any time, changing a CPU or PSU or motherboard generally means a whole new build so this is the best place to spend the money when buying a new machine

The budget doesn't allow for a gaming/streaming rig unfortunately. You would need the 12600KF to make this possible. The 12400F will really struggle.

As much as additional RAM could help, I've had no issues streaming/recording with OBS while gaming on VR using OBS, so don't think RAM would be a concern.

The PSU is just to give headroom really. It's a much better unit as well, being the RMx.

What's the budget you would recommend to allow for streaming at good quality? Something that would last for a few years (I could potentially up the budget if I shift some finances around but would like to weigh up both options)

I changed the CPU, would this be sufficient now:

I don't mind getting some cheaper parts knowing that it will struggle and then upgrade them in a few months

This would get you there. The ideal card would be the 2060 but it's a fair bit more coin to get there. The great thing is that the rest of the system is ready for a GPU bump should you wish to go down that route down the line, you wouldn't need to swap anything else.

Thank you so much for the help! - I've ordered your recommendation and will upgrade the GPU later in the year (maybe when they come down in price a bit)

I think you'll be very impressed. When you get it and put it through it's paces, if you could pop back and let us know your thoughts that would be great :)

Just received - Very happy so far

I am just trying to find the softwares to change the colours - I have found the Corsair software - wondering if you know how to change the LED on the LIAN LI LANCOOL 215 GAMING CASE fans at the front. Is this changeable?

You ordered on Friday and received it 5 days later on a Wednesday? What is this magic?!
