New to the pc gaming world

You can drop the RAM to 3200Mhz if it's just for gaming.

The 3600Mhz Corsair Vengeance RAM PCS use has a clock speed of CL18 whereas the 3200Mhz has a clock speed of CL16. What this means in non gibberish is that in terms of gaming these are basically identical sticks so you can save a couple £ there

Can I ask what monitor you'll be using? I see people recommending a 3080 so I assume you have a monitor that can support the 3080? Otherwise it's a waste of money, Monitors that could make use of the 3080 start at around

I’ve got the Samsung Odessy G7 so I was aiming for 1440 for the 27 inch monitor. But I know I have to get w GPU and motherboard capable of handling for that, then 4K when they eventually get better?

Fair enough, the 3070 and 3070Ti would be better suited to the G7 but if you're planning to go to something like the Samsung G9 soon then the 3080 would be recommended

To reach the full 240Hz of the G7 I think you would need the 3080. Whether that's a task worth trying is a different question.

If I stay with the 3080 with the g7 monitor, I’ll then be future proofing or aim I just wasting performance by not having the monitor to match it?

The vast majority of the population won’t notice any difference in performance above 120 Hz. So, although the 3080 might give you 240Hz, whether you would see the benefit is debatable.
Okay then I think that settles that debate haha

What you mean by task trying?
It's pretty much generally accepted now than a very small percentage of the population can distinguish a difference on anything over like 120Hz. Generally why 144Hz is considered the sweet spot, now there are a few who can see more than that but generally most people can't

The question is, is it even worth trying or worth the cost to try?

It's why I always aim for monitors that offer insane experiences/resolutions over Hz because one is physically tangible and the other is "feel" which is very difficult to measure. General rule I follow below

Samsung G9 or something similar? 3080
Samsung G5/G7 or something similar? 3060Ti/3070/3070Ti

This builds better value for 1440p 144hz with room for a gpu upgrade in future :)

Just making the build now, it say I only need a 650 power supply instead of the 850 you’ve recommended?

then with the same design do I need to add extra case fans to tur build or is that why the processor cooler is expensive? And then I know the case already has 2 Fans, so should I add 3 more?

why not go for 7.1 sound cards instead of 5.1 as my headphones support 7.1?
