No GPU at present as I'm waiting to see if 8GB 970/980's appear soon. I'll be looking to run 3 of these in SLI to power a triple monitor set-up. May just order the PC and add these in myself on release.

I wouldn't suggest running 3 GPUs, you are likely to experience heat issues and you get significant diminishing returns with the 3rd GPU. I also don't think you will have a noticeable difference between the 4gb or 8gb (if available)

I've heard that temps aren't as much of an issue with the 900's as they run a lot cooler? I know the 3rd card will get diminishing returns but it still seems 3 x 970 will give better results than 2 x 980 in most cases? I know 4 or 8gb vram doesn't make much difference right at this minute but it feels as if that could change quite soon! Especially as I'll be running at 5760x1080.

I'm a bit stumped on what to do GPU wise. I've got £1000 for GPU's and want to go as all out as possible.

My comment regarding the vram was considering 3 monitors and a single gpu may run cooler than the previous generation but you are going to have 3 GPUs together. I wouldn't reconmend doing tri-sli, I would suggest looking at benchmarks/reviews (if available) of tri sli set ups with the gtx 970 or 980
