Noise in Monitors!

Hi everyone,

Ever since connecting up my new PC to my soundcard, there is a constant hissing noise sound in the monitors which remains even when the volume level is turned down all the way. My instinct is telling me that it's the cooler that is somehow interfering with the interface but I'm not sure. I am using a Focusrite 2i4 Audio interface, and have it connected directly to the PC. I have also optimized the PC in accordance with Focusrite guidance, so am at a loss as to what the problem might be.
Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Is this a pcspecialist pc? Can you post your full specs from the order page?

What connection are you using for the monitors? I take it you mean speaker monitors and not a display monitor?

Hi there,

Yes, this is a PC Specialist PC. I am referring to the speaker monitors which are Rokit 5s. I am using a Neo Oyaide cable direct from the interface to the PC. Here is my PC spec...

1/4 inch jack, balanced. It wasn't an issue with my last PC but strangely is now.
Unfortunately, there's a lot wrong with that build for audio.

Firstly it's on an intel platform, the new Intel big / little design really sucks for audio, the latency between the PCores and ECore chipsets causes a lot of issues for audio. Best advice is to fully disable the ECores and see if it improves.

But there are other issues as well which can only be resolved by replacing parts.

The cooler is nowhere near adequate for the CPU, you'd need a 360mm AIO for effective cooling, and I don't think that case supports it.

Plus the PSU is not the best related to Audio, for both internal airflow plus noise.

The case as well is not suitable for that processor anyway. It's more designed for budget builds and severely hampers airflow.

But at the moment, that CPU is gonna be on fire until the specs are brought up to par. Until you bring the cpu into thermal operational limits, latency is going to be through the roof

If you've had it less than 14 days, I would strongly recommend cancelling and getting advice on something better designed on an AMD platform.

Thanks for your input and advice. I find it hard to believe that PCS would let me proceed with the build if the cooler wasn't sufficient for the CPU, as they advised me on the power source and other compatible components during the selection period. Strange.
I will continue to seek advice and see if i can resolve this issue. Thank you.

PCS will just build what you order, unless you specifically phone them and ask them to design you something, they just put together whatever you put through on the configurator. It's down to the buyer to design something suitable for their needs, or get advice if they're not sure.

All the configurator states is what's compatible with the chipset and any physical compatibility issues, but it can't tell you if it's a good build or not.

The PSU is not an advice, it's purely letting you know the minimum you can get away with. But you would never fit that low.

If you don't understand hardware, it's always best to get advice. You can't just throw any components together, each component has to fit with the next and they all interrelate, so you have to know what balances with what you're selecting.
