NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 650 - HDMI not working

I bought a pc from here 2 years ago with a NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 650, but have been using VGA all this time, I just got an HDMI capable screen and upon plugging it in, I get a "no signal" message. I know that the screen is working as I have tested it with another pc with no problem. I've tried making sure that I have the latest drivers from nvidia.

I'm not an idiot, but also not overly computer savvy so anything technical would need to be explained.

Check firstly that the input on the monitor is set to the HDMI and not auto, sometimes there can be problems switching automatically.

Nope, trying that just gives the No signal message again, then resets the options to vga.

Do you know what version of hdmi cable you have? Eg 1.2, 2 etc?

Not sure, it came with a Raspberry Pi Model B V2, all it says on it is "High speed HDMI cable". I know that the cable worked between the pi and the screen.
