Octane 17 laptop loose DC-in/power charger port connection

The connecction between the plug of a working power adaptor and the DC-In Jack of my Octane 17 laptop is very loose, which has got increasingly worse over time, to the point now where the laptop no longer reliably receives power via the plug of the adaptor.

By DC-In Jack, I am referring to what others might call the power connector, DC port, power in, power socket or charging flex, etc. at the back of the laptop, i.e. the port that the plug of the power adaptor inserts into the laptop (number 5 of the attached image).

Has anybody else had any experience at all of the plug of a power adaptor being a loose fit within the DC-In Jack of an Octane 17 laptop?

Yes.

I have two power adaptors/power packs, both of which were supplied by PC Specialist, so yes the power adaptors/power packs are genuine.
the actual socket within the laptop that’s wobbling within the chassis, or the cable connector wobbling within the port?

It’s a DIN connector and they’re usually quite sturdy at the input side, if that’s loose it’s a very different issue

The DC-In Jack of the laptop sits as tightly within the laptop as it did when the laptop was brand new.

It is the connection between the plug of the power adaptor and the DC-In Jack that is a loose connection, i.e. the plug moves about within the DC-In Jack, i.e. the plug very easily wiggles, or wobbles as you put it, within the DC-In Jack.

Yeah, got ya. On the plus side, that’s a better issue to have than the port itself coming loose on the motherboard.

if you take a ballpoint and place it on the pins within the cable side of the connector, do those wobble?

The plug of the power adaptor does not have pins.

The plug of the power adaptor has four holes into which the the four pins of the DC-In Jack at the back of the laptop insert when the plug of the power adaptor is inserted into the DC-In Jack.

None of the four pins of the DC-In Jack wobble.

apologies, I didn’t sleep much last night and am struggling reading and making sense of things. I see what you’re saying.

I’ll leave it for someone else who has this model to respond hopefully they may have some insight.
