Octane VI Windows Volume Adjustment does not work

Hello,

I recently bought the 17.3 Octane VI and I must say its one heck of a machine! Something rather annoying regarding it is the Windows volume adjuster doesn't seem to work. I can access the volume mixer and when I attempt to change the volume (adjusting the levels between 0-100) it says its adjusted it but the volume is stuck at a specific level which is pretty loud, regardless of whether I have turned the volume up and down. The only way I can adjust the sound is through apps or games (the volume can be adjusted via Youtube and spotify app furthermore, If i adjust the master volume in games that also adjusts it) I have tried disabling, uninstalling/reinstalling the audio driver and restarting the audio service but this hasn't worked. Has anybody else encountered this problem ?

Thanks,
Jonathan

I think the Octane is a Clevo chassis? if so, do you have Control Center installed? You can get it from the Clevo downloads site.

Hello, the control Center is installed from the clevo website with the latest version

I'm not sure whether it was already installed or whether you've just installed it? Can you control the volume now using Control Center?

It was not installed when I received the laptop, I downloaded the latest version (5.001) directly from clevo for my exact model and everything worked except for the audio which cannot be controlled by windows or the control center. I then downgraded to the Control Center 2.0 (from PCSpecialist) and again the volume cannot be controlled with either windows or the control center.

In that case I would phone PCS and see what they have to say.

It doesn't sound like your audio drivers are installed properly.

Did you order the laptop with or without windows?

I got an Octane VI recently too and also had none of the relevant apps/drivers installed. It was so weird that the Windows volume control didn't have any effect apart from sound on/off. I particularly had problems with the Nvidia Control Panel not showing up even after a fresh reinstall of the drivers and Geforce Experience. I didn't stop until I found the control panel app and installed it though as 144hz is a def must use :)

Anyway...

If you haven't got a DVD/Blu Ray drive, to install from the supplied disc, then you can download the drivers for the laptop from PC Specialist. Log into your account and go to Tech Support & Download. Select the version of Operating System you have installed and you will see a list of apps and drivers. You want the Audio and SBX.

I also got apps called Driver Easy and Intel Driver & Support Assistant and had them install any drivers it found needed updating.

@TremF I’ve removed the links to those apps as we do not recommend driver updated apps on this forum, they invariably install incorrect drivers and are dangerous (even the intel one).

The ONLY way to install apps is direct from the manufacturers website, or through windows update. Any 3rd party tools cause system fragility and very often are riddled with viruses.

I would highly recommend you do a full system reinstall on your machine.

I must admire the similar Octane build you have to mine (Absolute brute of a machine isn't it) I did have a disc that contains a bunch of drivers but the Octane VI (And majority of laptops) does not have a disc driver however, managed transfer all the contents of it to my portable hard-Drive on my Desktop Rig. Going have a try at reinstalling all the drivers and see how that holds up if not I will do a full reinstall like SpyderTracks suggested. cheers for the advice people, will keep you updated on how it goes

Hi TremF. I have the same problem on my Octane VI. I resolved the volume problem but i am still not able to get the Nvidia Control Panel working. Do you have a hint how you managed to get the Nvidia Control Panel working?

I've sent you a PM. You can get it from the Microsoft Store, just make sure you sign in or it will ask for a code.
