OCZ RevoDrive 3 X2?

Hi,

Just wondering whether Pcspecialist will be stocking the new OCZ RevoDrive 3 X2 which looks really fast?

And if so, when its likely to be available? Thanks

I did ask PCS about a Revodrive build - the answer was that it could be done if I shipped them the drive, but it didn't make sense to stock such an expensive part. I understand that, as the price of inventory can only drop

I got the build with a regular Vertex SSD and plan to add the Revodrive when the price has dropped a little more

Hi Mike,

I'm thinking along similiar lines.

I emailed Pcspecialist directly and they responded that they had encountered some issues with the predecessor Revo drive in terms of getting it to work correctly as a boot drive etc.

I can't really argue with that, hence am considering adding it in myself afterwords.

So I'm now toying with the idea of going for either a 120Gb or 250GB Vertex 3. Will probably go for the former and start saving up for the RevoDrive.

My only concern with this approach is that I may end up finding that the 120GB drive is quick enough for my needs.... in which case I'll have wished I went for the 250GB one instead!

Database scripts on my laptop can take up to 3 or 4 days to run (10GB+ database per script, with lots of database updates, inserts and calculations being done) - but that's on a slow 5,400rpm. Still, I suspect that I'd notice a big difference between the (new) Revo drive and the Vertex 3 for the stuff I do.

Hmm, that sounds like the database isn't indexed for the queries you are running. Changing to a faster drive may alleviate but won't necessarily solve the problem.
