Optimum RAM setup

Afternoon people!

I am looking at upgrading my RAM from 16gb to 32gb but am unsure as to what would be best for my hardware. I've looked online a bit and it's sort of confusing. Not sure whether 2 sticks of 16 or 4 of 8 would be better for my Mobo/CPU combo.

My Mobo is: Asus TUF gaming B550
CPU: 5600x
Current RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 2x 8gb (3200 MHz)

Also would I benefit from going up to 3600 MHz at all?

Just incase its important, I'm using the system for gaming only and I am playing games like Star Citizen, DayZ, Scum, Resi Evil Village etc.

Thanks

Hiya, is this a PCSpecialist system?

Could you post the full specs from the order page please?

There you can select additional RAM.

It's generally best to have matched pairs, so your system would be best with an additional 2 x 8Gb sticks.

Personally, although there is a performance increase from 3200MHz to 3600MHz, it's very minor, I wouldn't personally say it justifies the additional cost of replacing the whole lot.

Okay, thats great. So I would definitely be better with an additional pair of 8's then a single pair of 16's.

I was hoping that would be the case because I'm a sucker for RGB and any excuse to add extra lights is a win from me 😂

Yeah, there was some analysis done on this by Gamers Nexus specifically on Ryzen 5000

It goes really in depth, but just skip to the end for the wrap up, but TLDR, yes, there's a small performance increase with all 4 sticks populated over 2.

RGB is a must, not just in computing either, I think it's high time we need to introduce it into cooking and clothing and definitely in street lighting
