Hi guys,

I find my GeForce GT 555M uses up a lot of my battery life. Is there a way I can disable it via the BIOS or can you tell me where can I find the power cable on the motherboard? I took the bottom of the case off, but it looks like the motherboard is screwed in with the video card inaccessible underneath it.

Specs are as follows (running ubuntu 12.04)

Chassis & Display Optimus II: 15.6" Matte 95% Gamut LED Widescreen (1920x1080) (£79)
Processor (CPU) Intel® Core™i7 Quad Core Mobile Processor i7-2630QM (2.00GHz) 6MB Cache
Memory (RAM) 8GB SAMSUNG 1333MHz SODIMM DDR3 MEMORY (2 x 4GB)
Graphics Card nVIDIA® GeForce® GT 555M - 2GB DDR3 Video RAM - DirectX® 11
2nd Graphics Card NONE
Memory - 1st Hard Disk 120GB INTEL® 510 SERIES SSD, SATA 6 Gb/s (upto 450MB/sR | 210MB/sW)
2nd Hard Disk 250GB WD SCORPIO BLACK WD2500BEKT, SATA 3 Gb/s, 16MB CACHE (7200 rpm)

If you remove your graphics card, you will have nothing.

Core i7/i5 onboard graphics are disabled when used in a laptop with dedicated graphics and cannot be enabled.

I have an Optimus II and the laptop comes with a button labelled VGA to switch between the integrated and Nvidia graphics. Green - integrated, orange - Nvidia. Make sure all drivers that came with the laptop are installed.

Edit - didn't realise you were using Ubuntu.
