Optimus II power adaptor port overheating

I have had the 17" optimus II for just over 1/2 a year now and it was running fine, until about a month ago I noticed the power adaptor port on the laptop was overheating to the extent that it started to melt the yellow plastic on the power cable port! This seems to happen whenever I put the CPU and GPU under load, I have bought a replacement power brick, and it still does it! otherwise its OK, does anyone have any advice/prognosis r.e. this?

A bad soldered connection from the DC power jack to the motherboard could cause this.
If you are under warranty I would give PCS a call before more damage is done.

I guess it'll have to be that then, I'm under the standard 3 year warranty, I assume that will cover it?

I also notice that the overheating is less of a problem when I run the laptop with the battery removed, very strange...

Standard warranty / 1 month free collection and return./1 year parts/3 year labour.
Looks like you will have to pay for collection & return.
Worth giving them a call anyway to see what they advise.
