Optimus Value/Performance Spec

So today the fan on my 4 year old ASUS laptop made a noise like a food blender on starting up and I realised it's time to start researching a replacement. What I'm looking for is a desktop replacement that's capable of playing games (for an elastic value of 'capable') but is ultimately as close to the sweet spot on price/performance as possible. Comments/suggestions would be very welcome (especially if it's as simple as 'go one base model lower and you'll be fine'). One thing in particular I'd like advice on is the Processor because I have absolutely no idea if I'm getting any real value for the upgrade.

Thanks in advance

Looks good overall but I suggest getting a 1x4GB stick of RAM so that you can add a second 4GB module in the future (only 2 slots available), upgrading to the silver warranty and getting a 500GB scorpio black HDD instead for quicker performance.

Great spec!

If your budget permits, try to upgrade the processor a little to make it as future-proof as possible.

I recommend upgrading the warranty and selecting a 7,200 RPM HDD. The CPU and GPU are more than adequate for the tasks you'll likely be performing.
